🌱 Everything great began small. We are proud of our origins because they have made us what we are today. It all started at the Universitat de València... From the seeds of #Matteco in the laboratory of the 2D-Chem research group, to reaching the large-scale market, was the common thread of the thought-provoking presentation at the VDS in the round table 'World-changing technologies' given by Gonzalo Abellán Sáez, our co-founder & CTO and team leader and researcher at Instituto de Ciencia Molecular- ICMol. ⚗ 📈 Gonzalo reviewed the track record of more than 10 years of R&D in new materials that have led to our next-generation catalysts and electrodes for decarbonizing the economy, with a talented and growing team and the imminent opening of our gigawatt-scale factory. 🔥 Hot news: we're scaling up for a better future! We are thrilled to share that #Matteco has closed a €15 million Series A investment round to expand production of our advanced materials for #greenhydrogen. New partners committed to impact investing join the project, including Grupo ASV (Spain), Napali (Chile) and, of course, #Zubi. Welcome to this exciting journey! ⚙ The capital raised will be used for our factory's imminent opening and ramp up in Paterna (Valencia), enabling us to produce the equivalent of 1 gigawatt (GW) of electrodes per year. 🚀 This will increase our production capacity to meet the growing demand for integrating our next generation catalysts and electrodes with alkaline and AEM #electrolyzer manufacturers worldwide. Matteco already has customers in Europe, North America and Asia. The company will grow the current team from 30 to 100 in 2025 as well. 🚀 The sky's the limit! 🏅 We have won the prestigious BASF- ICIQ Award, which honours #innovation and excellence in scientific entrepreneurship projects in Spain and Portugal.   Gonzalo Abellán Sáez, our CTO and co-founder, accepted the award at a ceremony held at the headquarters of the Institut Català d'Investigació Química. Por ejemplo, reduciendo el consumo energético en su producción entre un 20 y un 30 %". For example, by reducing energy consumption in its production by 20-30%".   We also stressed the great opportunity for reindustrialization and competitiveness that clean technologies offer. Measures to meet this challenge:   🔹 A solid value chain in all its links and high quality proprietary technology. 🔹 The breadth of the vision: supporting innovative companies in the R&D or industrial scale-up phase is required. 🔹 In particular, these start-ups need new, lower-risk financing instruments to become bankable.
