How does the rise of ecommerce affect the #Nordics?  The revenue of the #ecommerce industry reached USD 37.55 billion in 2022. In the first half of 2024, #Macau's total foreign trade reached MOP 70.7 billion (approximately USD 8.77 billion). The export value was MOP 6.62 billion (USD 820.88 million), marking a year-on-year increase of 4.0%. Notably, #reexports contributed MOP 5.89 billion (USD 730.36 million), a rise of 4.5%, while locally produced goods saw a slight decline, with exports valued at MOP 730 million (USD 90.52 million), down 0.2%. When analyzing export destinations, there was remarkable growth in trade with Belt and Road countries, where exports surged by 101.8% to reach MOP 470 million (USD 58.28 million). Exports to Mainland China also grew by 2.7% (MOP 410 million/USD 50.84 million), while the European Union experienced a significant #increase of 67.1%, reaching MOP 120 million (USD 14.88 million). This data highlights Macau's evolving trade dynamics, particularly the strong performance of re-exports and the growing significance of Belt and Road countries as export destinations. The overall growth in trade value reflects a positive economic outlook for Macau as it continues to diversify its trading partners and strengthen its global connections. How did Macau achieve strong economic growth in the first half of 2024? In the first half of 2024, Macau's GDP reached MOP 204.3 billion (USD 25.33 billion), reflecting a real year-on-year growth of 15.7%. Benefiting from an increase in the number of visitors and tourism activities, overall service exports continued to grow in the first half of the year. Exports of gaming services rose by 39.9%, while exports of other tourism services increased by 2.8%, surpassing the levels of the same period in 2019 by more than 20%.  As the business environment continues to improve, companies have also continued to increase their investment in Macau. In the first half of the year, the gross fixed capital formation rose by 9.8% year-on-year, with private equipment investment up by 29.8%. Investments in large-scale residential buildings and integrated resort developments also stimulated a 14.7% increase in private construction.
