This week we would like to honour one of the most important assets, if not the most important asset in the Shipyard. Our floating dock of 162m l.o.a., 27,5m breadth, 9.300Tm lifting capacity and 25000 Tm DWT, which has made a mandatory pause for a few weeks. After many years of continuous hard work, it was necessary to drydock it in order to undergo a full inspection of its internal and external hull and structure to obtain an extension of its navigation certificates. The difficult manoeuvre carried out on our covered slipway was carefully planned and prepared by our experienced team of workers which were able to carry out the task successfully. We hope to have our floating dock back to work in no time, but for now it is having a well-deserved break. The following footage shows the remarkable and unusual operation which we are sure you will enjoy.   --- Esta semana queremos otorgar protagonismo al que, sin duda alguna, es uno de los activos más importantes de los que disponemos en el astillero. No es otro que nuestro dique flotante, de 162m de eslora total, 27,5m de manga, 9.300 Tm de capacidad ascensional y 25000 Tm de peso muerto, el cual se encuentra en parada obligatoria desde hace unas semanas. Después de años de incesante trabajo, se hacía necesaria su varada en seco para reconocimiento interno y externo de su casco o estructura, con el objetivo de obtener la extensión o prórroga de sus certificados de navegación. La maniobra de varada en nuestra grada móvil, no exenta de dificultad, fue minuciosamente preparada por todo nuestro equipo para lograr llevarla a cabo con éxito. Last week the third vessel of the three ordered by our customer Remolcadores Nosa Terra, arrived at our Shipyard to be reconditioned and serviced.     The GONZALO S, a tug boat of 25m l.o.a. and 9,8m breadth will be with us to carry out various jobs on its bridge and deck, engine room, tanks and valves.   -----   La semana pasada dimos la bienvenida a la tercera de las tres embarcaciones que nuestro cliente, Remolcadores Nosa Terra, nos confió para su reacondicionado y puesta a punto.   El B/GONZALO S, un remolcador de 25m de eslora total y 9,8m de manga, llegaba así para acometer, entre otros, trabajos en puente, cubierta, máquinas, tanques y válvulas.   #metalships #shipbuilding #shiprepair #drydocking #shipyard

It is always a pleasure to receive a customer in the shipyard, but even more so when it is an old friend or colleague who comes. We are especially happy to have our colleagues ARMON SHIPYARDS Vigo with us these days and their NB V140 – Odon de Buen, a Research Survey Vessel, belonging in turn, to their customer the Instituto Español de Oceanografía. Now in its final stage of the project, the vessel has arrived at Metalships to undergo several paint jobs in its underwater area. We are grateful for having the opportunity to make our contribution to this vessel with which the Spanish Oceanographic Institute pays tribute to its founder. We would also like to take this occasion to congratulate both ARMON SHIPYARDS as well as all their collaborating companies for the magnificent job carried out. On a final note, we would like to share the images of the vessel undergoing docking and undocking manoeuvres on our floating dock. The week begins welcoming back the vessel FRIEDRICH RUSS to Metalships. After its last visit in April this year, the ro-ro vessel of 153,40m l.o.a and a breadth of 20,60m returns to mount its stabilizers and carry out pipe jobs in the engine room. ----- Arrancamos la semana dando nuevamente la bienvenida al B/ FRIEDRICH RUSS. After a two week stay at our Shipyard, yesterday the second vessel of three, which we are reconditioning for our customers Remolcadores Nosa Terra, SA left Metalships. The tug boat DOCTOR PINTADO of 22 m l.oa. and 10.00m breadth underwent paint jobs on its underwater area and topsides, tank cleaning was carried out to change from seawater to freshwater. Maintenance was also carried out on bottoms valves to renew zinc and MGPS anodes. It is extremely satisfying for us to be able to contribute to the reconditioning of these great vessels and in keeping them in good condition, especially as they regularly assist us during all our docking manoeuvres.   -----   Después de dos semanas en el astillero, ayer decíamos adiós al B/DOCTOR PINTADO, segundo de los tres remolcadores de nuestro cliente Remolcadores Nosa Terra, SA, en cuyas labores de reacondicionamiento nos encontramos trabajando en las últimas semanas. Durante su estancia, se le realizaron varios trabajos de pintura en obra viva y obra muerta, limpieza de tanques, cambio de AS a AD, mantenimiento de válvulas de fondo, renovación de ánodos de zinc y MGPS. Es muy gratificante para nosotros contribuir a la puesta a punto de estos “grandes” barcos especializados que, regularmente, nos auxilian durante las maniobras de varada y reflote de nuestros buques. #metalships #shipbuilding #shiprepair #drydocking #shipyard

Yesterday our covered slipway received the vessel ISARTAL. The general cargo vessel has made an emergency stop at our shipyard this week to overhaul its stern tube seals and if necessary, renew them. The vessel of 87.82m l.o.a. and 12.00m breadth will be with us for a short stay and will continue its route afterwards.   -----   Nuestra grada varadero ayer recibía la visita del B/ISARTAL. El carguero, de 87,82m de eslora total y 12,00m de manga, hace escala en el astillero por una avería de urgencia. This week the OCEAN MARLIN has left our shipyard. As posted some months back, the offshore tug supply vessel of 66.8m l.o.a and a 16.4m breadth arrived to undergo a large conversion and repairs job which was successfully completed. During these months the main features executed to achieve the desired change have been: -     The installation a of new ABS class deck Knuckle Boom crane with a removable boom rest, hydraulically operated by a HPU. The vessels’ structure was altered in order to accommodate the cranes’ pedestal as well as other pieces of equipment which had to be rearranged. -     A new mezzanine deck was built to accommodate a W-ROV and a LARS system. -     An acoustic underwater positioning system HiPAP® 502 was also installed, interfaced to the existing DP system. -     Accommodation was upgraded with new portholes, cabins, new work spaces, a new conference room and a mess room with increased capacity as well as new electrical systems, ventilation ducts and piping and a new FW generator in the engine room.   Given the additional weight due to all the new equipment, the stability conditions were recalculated and the vessel was ballasted with 65T of pumpable concrete on forward. We would like to thank our customer for the confidence placed in Metalships to carry out this important challenge and wish them the best of tides.   --- Esta semana despedimos al OCEAN MARLIN. Tal y como publicamos hace unos meses, el buque offshore de 66.8m de eslora y 16.4m de manga llegó al astillero el pasado mes de febrero para llevar a cabo una importante transformación/reparación, la cual ha sido completada con éxito. En los últimos meses se han ejecutado los siguientes trabajos principales para conseguir el cambio deseado: -     La instalación de una grúa Knuckle Boom con ABS y un boom rest desmontable, operada por un sistema de potencia hidráulica (HPU). La estructura del buque se ha visto alterada para ubicar el pedestal de la grúa, así como otros equipos que han tenido que ser reubicados. -     Se ha construido una nueva cubierta mezzanine para ubicar un sistema W-ROV y LARS. -     Se ha instalado un sistema acústico de posicionamiento submarino HiPAP® 502 con conexión al sistema DP existente. -     La habilitación se ha reacondicionado con nuevos portillos, camarotes, espacios de trabajo, una sala de reuniones y un comedor con mayor capacidad, se han renovado los sistemas eléctricos, conductos de ventilación y tubería y se ha instalado un nuevo generador de AD en la sala de máquinas. Debido a las nuevas condiciones de estabilidad por el peso añadido de todos los equipos, el buque ha sido lastrado en proa, con 65T de lastre fijo. Today we bid farewell to the OCEAN ENDEAVOUR, a Passenger Cruise Ship of 137.1m l.o.a and a 27.4m breadth which arrived at Metalships in April to undergo several repair jobs: -       Stabilizers were repaired. -       Windlass electrical engine’s clutches were repaired. -       Several steel works were carried out on its FW tanks after arriving with damages to its hull on bow, starboard side. -       Hull topsides were fully treated and painted. -       Valves were repaired Maintenance jobs were carried out on davits and several pipe jobs were carried out. After almost a month with us, the OCEAN ENDEAVOUR is ready to sail as we speak, see below: We hope she had a pleasant stay and wish her good tides. ----- Hoy despedimos al B/ OCEAN ENDEAVOUR, crucero de pasaje de 137.1m de eslora total y 27.1m de manga, que llegó a Metalships en el mes de abril para llevar a cabo varios trabajos de puesta a punto. Entre ellos: -       Reparación de los estabilizadores. -       Arreglo de los embragues de los motores eléctricos del molinete. -       Trabajos de renovación de acero en sus tanques de agua dulce por un golpe, con el que llegó, en la proa del casco, estribor. -       Tratamiento completo de casco en obra muerta. -       Reparación de válvulas. Tareas de mantenimiento en sus pescantes y varios trabajos de tubería.
