The future of clean energy isn’t just about new technologies – it's about the people driving progress. As the workforce becomes more diverse, energy companies need to prioritize inclusive practices to attract and retain top talent needed to lead in the industry. In their op-ed in the Houston Chronicle, Jessica Weis and Amy Jaffe highlight the industry's significant diversity gap, partly wedged by a competitive and out-of-date culture that repels new talent. Energy companies need to focus on building a culture that supports collaboration and transparency not only attracts top talent but also strengthens innovation and company performance, making DEI initiatives essential for long-term success. Diversity is the future of the workforce, let’s build a culture that enables everyone to join us in our mission to leave the planet better than we found it. For the energy industry, DEI isn't wokeness. It's workforce.

Our team has been blanketing NYC during #ClimateWeek, meeting with sustainability and energy teams, universities, planners and elected officials, to ensure adoption of #cleanenergy and the workforce supporting it keep growing. Why? Because we see how much progress has already been made and how favorable conditions are right now for growth - and that gives us hope and drive for the long #decarbonization journey ahead. Our CEO, Jon Yoder, walks through his reasons for optimism in the article below:
Every year, #ClimateWeek attracts a flood of innovators, energy suppliers, energy buyers, governments and not-for-profits to tackle the most urgent challenge of our time - #climatechange. Many are looking for a theme, a breakthrough in technology, a single victory or a widespread shift in policy. This week, I penned my first post for MN8's blog offering a reason to be optimistic: the table is set for huge progress in #decarbonization, because this is the year corporate energy buyers are scaling up their ambitions. There's never been a better time to accelerate progress towards decarbonizing our grids, communities and businesses. Read the post below, and then share in the comments: this Climate Week, how will your organization raise its ambitions?

Last night, MN8 Chief Administrative Officer Patrick McAlpine went uptown to Columbia University to join a panel on Talent and Culture at the school’s Global Renewables Summit. During the panel, Patrick shared his work mantra and advice to the audience: Be Helpful. Being helpful is focused on quality, it's about being the person willing to lend a helping hand to colleagues on your team or cross-functionally. Becoming a “go to” person will allow you to build strong relationships with people across your organization and you’ll often be someone that gets thought about when opportunities arise. #ClimateWeekNYC continues for MN8 Energy with Jon Yoder joining We Don't Have Time tomorrow on their The Climate Hub stream. Follow MN8 Energy to make sure you don’t miss a beat of our climate week programming.
