Thank you so much @hayleyferris <3
“We’re saving PDFs, not lives” I’ve seen the meme, I’ve laughed and agreed. But when we design well and craft our work for retention, it can have immeasurable impact. The proof is in this project by Niceshit Studio for The Laura Hyde Foundation. They designed the characters and animated this video to accompany the soundtrack, encouraging first responders to seek the help they need. They later received feedback from someone that it had saved their son’s life. Niceshit Studio promised to make us laugh and make us cry, and that they did - a memorable lesson about the importance of impact I won’t soon forget. Feeling inspired after 3 days at The Design Conference in Brisbane and meeting some incredible designers from around the world. Listening to all their stories as well as a workshop with Carmen & Guido from Niceshit Studio has been an awesome opportunity to recharged the creative battery⚡️. Thanks TDC!

It's always so nice to see our work in action! A big part of this project was to create a modular, flexible, and ready-to-use system so our partner can endlessly play along with it and generate new assets for every communication needs they may have. Here are a few examples of websites, social media, OOH, offices, and huge placements in urban places. #branding #trivago #characterdesign #brandidentity #2d #illustration #design #characters #niceshit

We’ve joined forces with DesignStudio to develop the Illustration System for the worldwide rebranding of trivago. The idea behind this is an Illustration system that could be scalable and customizable for different needs at different moments. We came up with a style with a balance, between a digital/physical feeling through a hand-drawn stroke texture and slightly geometric forms. Enjoy :) Credits: Client: trivago Agency: DesignStudio Creative Direction: Carmen Angelillo Rodier Kidmann & Guido Lambertini EP: Agusta Timotea Art Direction & illustration: Rodier Kidmann 2d Promo Animation: Jaume Mestre Servera Music & Sound: Facundo Capece & Lola Ritcher

We are so excited to be sharing ‘One Step Closer’ our latest commercial for Colorado Lottery: an animated story of those ‘’pre-win butterflies’’ made in partnership with our good friends and agents Aggressive and the amazing team at Cactus Through this bold and minimalistic film, our goal was to take viewers on a journey of emotions from surprise to excitement felt by our main character who stumbles upon a Colorado Lottery's Dream Machine. It is no news that we love the simplicity and leaving on screen just what we need and in this case, we’ve taken this concept as far as we could leaving just the main characters and nothing else. The stripped-back scenario allows only two visual elements to shine while also posing the challenge of how to tell an engaging, eye-catching story with so little populating the screen. Given the largely clear slate, we decided to reconstruct the environment through music and sound design - a key part of every animated piece we do. The sound of the footsteps, an opening door, and the familiar bell as a shop door is entered bring the surroundings to life, while the protagonist's headspace moving between everyday thoughts and vacation daydreams, is mirrored by the transition from shopping mall speakers to a bouncing groove. As creators of moving narratives and book geeks above all, it is clear that this was a dream project: having the opportunity to imagine a part of these stories and sharing it with all of you, it feels like we are reading it together, and that is just beautiful. This third and last book of this series immediately took us back in time to a world made out of watercolors, the sound of horns and…screams - a place where you can find great calm and great chaos. ‘When Women Were Dragons’ by Kelly Barnhill is a story full of brave women (exactly 642.987), lots of dragons and a bit of chaos. It was a pleasure and a privilege to share our vision and imagination over this set of incredible stories, now readers can discover new books and authors have a new way of releasing books moving forward. There is no need to judge a book by its cover anymore. Each of the three films was approached differently, inspired both by the author and the story and always looking for an ink, printed feeling - as these animations take place inside a book we wanted the style to feel native to paper. Daniel Sloss is not only an author he is also a hilarious, irreverent stand-up artist and with the voice of the author himself ‘Everyone you hate is going to die’ has the vibe and the tone of raw and careless comedy inside a book. He talks about losing the virginity, being young, clumsy and driven by boiling hormones - a time in life when you know nothing but want to try everything, a moment to make mistakes. We were inspired by all of this to create a raw illustration style, with hard ink and messy lines. For the sound design, nothing says ‘youth’ better than punk and a carefree - sometimes out of tune - electric guitar. Don’t judge a book by its cover! We are so, so excited to share with all of you one of the coolest projects we’ve worked on, this time in partnership with Penguin Random House Meta & BBDO Worldwide There are approximately 1 million new books published each year in the US and less than 1% actually sell more than 5k copies. More shockingly half of all the book sales happen online, which means the in-store browsing experience is disappearing and we don’t want this to happen. It was the perfect project for many reasons: we absolutely love Penguin publishing and everything that they have put out over the past decades and the lovely team at BBDO NYC gave us complete freedom to execute this 3x films series. If you know a little about Niceshit then you know that there is nothing that we enjoy more than to tell a good story, and these stories were just amazing, such an incredible and diverse selection for the first three books - hopefully the first of many more. Please enjoy the first of these animated reels that take you beyond the front cover to help more people discover new books, and hopefully change the way authors release books moving forward.
