The Importance of Extra Activities in Language Schools: A Cultural Experience in Valencia Learning a language goes far beyond grammar exercises and vocabulary lists. True fluency happens when students immerse themselves in real-life experiences, surrounded by the language, culture, and people who live it every day. That’s why extra activities outside the classroom are such a fundamental part of the learning journey in a language school. At NL College, we deeply value the role of extracurricular activities. They not only offer students the opportunity to practice Spanish in authentic situations, but also help them build meaningful connections with their peers. These shared experiences enrich their learning process and make studying in Spain a truly unforgettable adventure. Recently, we brought together our two campuses, Barcelona and Madrid, for a very special trip to Valencia. This kind of activity allows students from different cities to meet, share stories, and bond over their experiences. It strengthens our sense of community, promotes cultural exchange, and opens new doors to friendship and collaboration. Our trip coincided with one of the most iconic festivals in Spain: Las Fallas de Valencia. Declared Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO, Las Fallas is a celebration that mixes tradition, art, fire, and joy. Originally rooted in the ancient carpenters' tradition of burning old wood to welcome spring, it has evolved into a spectacular event filled with massive sculptures (fallas), music, parades, and fireworks. Experiencing Las Fallas was a powerful way for our students to see first-hand the passion and creativity that characterize Spanish culture. Through this experience, our students didn’t just see Valencia. They felt it. They walked its streets, tasted its food, spoke its language, and celebrated one of its most beloved traditions. This is the magic of learning outside the classroom, it brings the language to life. We believe that learning happens everywhere: in the classroom, on the train, at the dinner table, and under the colorful fireworks of Las Fallas. Activities like these remind us that language is not just something we learn – it’s something we live. We can’t wait for the next adventure. Classes at the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya: A Unique Experience ✨🎓 We had the amazing opportunity to step out of the classroom and immerse ourselves in one of Barcelona's cultural gems: the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya. What an incredible experience! Learning about art directly inside the museum, surrounded by stunning works, allowed us to connect theory with practice in a unique way. We didn’t just learn about history and art, we also enjoyed the moment with our classmates, sharing ideas and growing together. It’s one of those experiences that shows how learning outside the classroom can be just as enriching as in it. 📢 We are official DELE and CCSE examiners for the Instituto Cervantes 📢 At our school, we are committed to excellence in teaching Spanish, and now we are taking it a step further: in addition to offering preparation courses, we are also an official examination center. This means you can take the DELE and CCSE exams with us, with the guarantee and support of the Instituto Cervantes. What are these exams, and why are they important? DELE (Diploma de Español como Lengua Extranjera): an official Spanish language certification, internationally recognized and valid for life. It is essential for academic, professional, and immigration purposes. CCSE (Conocimientos Constitucionales y Socioculturales de España): a mandatory exam for those applying for Spanish nationality. It assesses knowledge of the Spanish Constitution, society, and culture. Our approach We offer specialized preparation courses for each exam, designed to give candidates the confidence and tools they need. As official examiners, we have in-depth knowledge of the format and evaluation criteria, allowing us to provide precise and effective preparation.
