We are excited to share the publication of the study “𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘆𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗛𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘇𝗼𝗻 𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗘𝗨 𝗖𝗼𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝘆”, conducted at the request of the ITRE Committee of the European Parliament. This report provides a comprehensive overview of the current state of synergies between the two main EU funds supporting R&I, and the key drivers and barriers shaping their realisation. 📖 This work would not have been possible without the invaluable contributions of interviewees from various R&I institutions and regions across Europe. Their key insights, together with an analysis of regulatory developments and policy efforts, allowed for a thorough analysis. 🔍 Our colleagues Lucas Segal, Merel Griepink, and Francisco Lupiañez-Villanueva led the project, collaborating with our partners at Intellera Consulting - Manuela Marchioni and Antonio Boschetti, and Universitat Oberta de Catalunya - Mireia Riera and Xavier Vilajosana on the research activities and drafting of the study. 🤝 At PredictBy we take pride in working closely with key players in the EU R&I landscape and with EU policymaking institutions, bridging R&I fieldwork and evidence-based decision-making. If you would like to discuss this or other topics related to R&I and EU policymaking, feel free to reach out! Attending the TEHDAS2 Stakeholder Forum was an insightful experience and reaffirmed my belief in the transformative potential of the European Health Data Space. Some key takeaways: 🌐 Digital transformation of healthcare. The EHDS stands as a game-changer for research, innovation, and policymaking. It will also be an enabler for AI in health, impacting AI-driven healthcare solutions and supporting safe innovation. 🔧 Collaboration is key. The implementation of EHDS will require joint efforts from all stakeholders. Member States have significant work ahead, but it is through collaboration that the EHDS can become a reality. 📈 Future Outlook. The success of EHDS will have to be built on leveraging existing infrastructures, ensuring interoperability and maintaining trust among stakeholders. The EHDS is not just a regulatory framework but an opportunity to unlock the potential of health data for better patient, research and policymaking. 💡 Excited to be part of this transformation through our work at PredictBy!

🚀 We are thrilled to announce the official launch of the Enkore Project! Today, we are hosting our Kick-Off Meeting at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, bringing together experts from across the world to shape the future of eco-design in healthcare. What is ENKORE? ENKORE is a European project led by a multidisciplinary consortium of 39 partners (plus 13 industry affiliates) from 15 EU countries, as well as the UK and the USA. Our main objective is to develop an eco-design framework that facilitates the creation of medical devices and packaging that are both safe and environmentally responsible—reducing carbon footprints and optimising resource use. By connecting the design phase to the end-of-life stage, we ensure circularity technologies are integrated right from the outset, without compromising on the strict safety and biocompatibility standards required by the healthcare sector. ENKORE is co-funded by the Innovative Health Initiative (IHI) and unites a diverse consortium of partners committed to creating safe, circular, and sustainable-by-design medical solutions. Stay tuned for updates on our progress as we work towards closing the loop in healthcare and fostering a healthier, greener future for all! 𝗥𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 IHI IMPROVE 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁: 𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗳𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗮 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲-𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗺 The healthcare model in the EU is evolving, moving from a volume-based approach to value-based healthcare (#VBHC). This shift focuses on delivering high-quality care while managing costs. In essence, VBHC measures success not by the number of services delivered, but by the health outcomes achieved per euro spent. Specifically, it’s about: 🔹 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲 by focusing on preventive measures, holistic approaches, and chronic disease management. 🔹 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 through shared decision-making, innovation, and aligned incentives. 🔹 𝗘𝗻𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 by reducing inefficiencies, unnecessary procedures, and hospital readmissions. #VBHC is essential for building sustainable and equitable healthcare systems, especially as they face growing challenges such as ageing populations, rising costs and workforce shortages. The Innovative Health Initiative (IHI) funded #IMPROVE project aims to support the implementation of #VBHC by enabling the collection and smart use of patient generated health data (including #PROMS, #PREMs and #PPIs). Recently, the PredictBy team was in Ljubljana (Slovenia) to learn from the Slovenian use case - many thanks to Eva Turk, Janez Bernik, Valentina Prevolnik Rupel and all other Slovenian partners for the amazing organisation! Last week, Frans Folkvord, Justine Fleur van der Feen and Nick Dietrich attended the first in-person meeting with the SANGUINE consortium. Many thanks to the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens for hosting the meeting in Athens in such a successful and warm manner. Aligned with the #CancerMission's objectives—understanding, prevention, diagnosis, and improving quality of life—the SANGUINE Project focuses on the development of an innovative minimally-invasive test for the early detection of blood cancer. In this project, PredictBy is focusing on the societal aspects, particularly the design and execution of a co-creation process involving various stakeholders. This process aims to assess the needs of healthcare providers and patients, thereby enhancing clear communication and informed decision-making in the early detection pathway. Next, we support all the pilots in conducting the cost-effectiveness analyses to show the impact of the outcomes of the project on society and healthcare delivery. During the meeting, the consortium discussed significant progress, valuable updates, and the next steps for the project. We want to thank all consortium partners for their contributions, and we are looking forward to the upcoming activities and to the broader impact the project aims to achieve in advancing cancer prevention and early detection. #EUCancerMission #HorizonEurope #Prevention #Earlydetection
