Today, we had the privilege of attending the reception for Copenhagen Fashion Week AW25, where Cecilie Thorsmark CEO of CPHFW, delivered a powerful and inspiring opening speech. Her words served as a poignant reminder of the challenges we face as an industry and the responsibility we share: 🪙Key Takeaways 🪙 1️⃣ 2024: A Year of Challenges and Lessons Last year, our industry faced unprecedented difficulties, from bankruptcies to closures of beloved brands. These challenges highlighted how unforgiving the business landscape has become and underscored the urgency of adapting to evolving market demands. 2️⃣ Climate Crisis: The Responsibility is Ours 2024 was the warmest year on record, marking a pivotal moment for climate urgency. Cecilie emphasized that change is not optional but essential. Our industry’s resource consumption remains too high, and we must take bold steps toward circularity and reducing emissions—not just to survive but to lead the way forward. 3️⃣ Sustainability Milestones Are Just the Beginning! The implementation of Copenhagen Fashion Week’s sustainability requirements is a strong foundation, with global adoption by organizations like the British Fashion Council, but Cecilie reminded us: This is not the finish line. The challenge now is to keep pushing boundaries, innovating, and thinking even bigger. 4️⃣ Empowering Emerging Talent The CPHFW New Talent Program is nurturing the next generation of designers, with inspiring support from patrons like Ganni A/S A/S and ROTATE This commitment to creativity and new voices is critical to the future of fashion. 5️⃣ A Unified Direction for the Industry For over two years, brands on the official schedule have adhered to minimum sustainability standards, setting a clear and unified direction for the industry. Seeking collective action, where collaboration drives meaningful progress. Anne Pascual from Zalando gave an inspiring speech and showed a real example of collaboration between companies and emerging deseigners to promote talent with the Zalando Visionary award which is based on three pillars: design, social impact and innovation. 🎈 ✨ A Call to Action✨ This reminded me why responsability and sustainability is at the heart of what we do at @Recovo.co It’s a shared responsibility across designers, brands, and consumers to lead with intention, foster innovation, and turn challenges into opportunities. It is really all about decisions and purpose. We left the room feeling inspired and motivated to continue doing what we do best at Recovo Which is fighting textile waste through fashion circularity and tecnology.♻️ It’s always inspiring to come to this country and see how things are done here!
