Exciting news! The final report summarizing the key insights from the Expert Group Meeting on #SustainableUrbanTourism, held on 22-23 March in Bilbao, Spain, is now available! This event was organized by UN-Habitat in collaboration with UNTourism and supported by the Eusko Jaurlaritza - Gobierno Vasco. Download the report here: https://lnkd.in/dnsbBEkx The report highlights the importance of a multi-level governance approach to tourism planning and management that includes public, private and community representatives and a multisectoral shared vision for the development of urban tourism (tourism and non-tourism administrations at the city level). It recalls the need for better measurement and monitoring of urban tourism impacts and flows as well as the importance of measuring resident sentiment towards tourism to achieve a sustainable development of tourism. Issues such as planning, regulation, and capacity building are identified as key factors for a higher engagement of the private sector in sustainability efforts.
