This week, we were pleased to announce the strengthening of our equity base during a joint press conference held in Athens with our Founder and CEO, Carlos Muñoz, AEGEAN Chairman Eftichios Vassilakis, and AEGEAN CEO Dimitrios Gerogiannis. At the event, we shared the news of a capital injection of up to €100 million, which includes Aegean Airlines acquiring a 13% stake in our company. The first phase of this investment, totaling €50 million, has been completed, with €25 million contributed by AEGEAN and €25 million from our existing investors. There is also a potential second phase of up to €50 million, which could take place in early 2025. 💼   This capital injection marks a significant financial milestone for us, reinforcing our ability to continue growing and expanding our operations. It strengthens our strategic and financial position, enabling us to respond to evolving market dynamics and seize new opportunities. 📈   This equity investment comes alongside the expansion of our commercial joint venture with AEGEAN, focusing on increasing codeshare agreements and optimizing services, particularly in Greece, France, Italy, and Spain. This partnership will enhance connectivity, increase seating capacity, and introduce new international routes. ✈️   AEGEAN’s entry into our shareholder base underscores the alignment of our values and strategic goals. Yesterday, we were proud to inaugurate our 10th French base at Rodez-Aveyron Airport! We celebrated this milestone with a special event attended by Gilles GOSSELIN, our France Country Manager; Arnaud VIALA, President of the Department of Aveyron; Christian Teyssèdre, Mayor of Rodez Agglomération; Christian Tieulié, President of SAEML Air 12 (airport management); vincent Meneghetti, General Director and CEO of Rodez-Aveyron Airport, regional representatives, our fantastic crew, and local media. From this new base, where we have stationed an Airbus A319 aircraft, we’ll operate the PSO Route to Paris Orly, offering 60,000 seats across 380 flights through December 2024. Looking ahead to 2025, we plan to expand this to 178,000 seats across approximately 1,140 flights. ✈️   Our presence in the Occitania region dates back to 2012, and this new base is our second in the region after Toulouse. We’re now operating out of four airports in Occitania—Montpellier, Perpignan, Rodez-Aveyron, and Toulouse—highlighting our commitment to boosting the local economy and enhancing connectivity between this dynamic region and the rest of France and Europe. We're excited to announce that Volotea has won the tender to continue operating routes from Asturias to Alicante, Malaga, Seville, and Valencia. Starting this winter and running until 2028, the new contract allows us to maintain our commitment to providing quality service to our passengers, reflected in our high recommendation rate among Megavolotea passengers at over 94%. Initially, we will offer around 110,000 seats per year across the four routes, totaling close to 450,000 seats annually, with 6 to 7 flights weekly. ✈️🌟 Asturias has been a key airport for Volotea since 2012 and a base since 2015. We employ nearly 160 people and are proud to offer the most destinations from Asturias Airport, with 18 routes in total. Over the last ten years, we've proudly sponsored French navigator and engineer Benoit Marie from Nantes. Benoît specializes in foiling boats and has won major international races, including the Mini Transat in 2013 and Moth International as a Double French champion in 2018. This year, we're very happy to support Benoît and his teammate, Caroline Boule, a French and Polish engineer and scientist who joined his team in 2023. ⛵🌍 Benoît and Caroline are an excellent and complementary team. In the last year, they have achieved many milestones together, including Caroline becoming the first woman to cross the Atlantic in a fully foiled boat and, most recently, breaking the 24-hour record for the longest distance in a Mini boat—the first woman to achieve this! 👏🏅 Foiling boats use underwater wings to lift their hulls out of the water, reducing drag and increasing speed and efficiency. The technology behind foils, similar to how aircraft wings generate lift, demonstrates a fascinating link between sailing and aviation and why we have a special connection to this project. 🌊✈️ We admire how Benoît and Caroline push the boundaries in their field and look forward to the rest of their 2024 racing season.
