Last week, we joined over 12,700 attendees at the 5th edition of BNEW - Barcelona New Economy Week, where professionals from diverse sectors such as health, talent, sustainability, and aviation gathered to discuss their respective industry’s challenges and future perspectives. During the panel "Strategic Projections for the Development of Air Routes in Spain in a Global Context," our Chief Strategy Officer, Gabriel Schmilovich Isgut, participated alongside key representatives from Spain’s aviation sector, including AENA and Vueling Airlines, discussing the development of routes, Spain’s competitiveness, and evolving travel trends. ✈️📈 In discussing how new routes are planned, Gabriel emphasized our strategic focus on "underserved areas" where demand exists but direct services are limited. This approach enables us to better serve regions that often lack sufficient connectivity, improving accessibility across the board. When addressing Spain’s position in the aviation landscape, Gabriel pointed out the "untapped potential" in northern and southern regions, as well as in regional cities that show increasing promise. By enhancing connectivity in these areas, there are significant opportunities for growth throughout the country. The panel also examined whether high-speed rail competes with air travel. Gabriel explained that rail can "complement air travel," allowing some passengers to arrive by plane and complete their journey by train. This integration increases opportunities for customers by offering more seamless travel options. 🚄 Finally, as the panel explored post-COVID travel trends, Gabriel highlighted how "flexibility in remote work" has led to more off-peak travel, helping reduce seasonality and providing travelers with more options. It was an insightful discussion, shedding light on the promising opportunities ahead for Spain’s connectivity and the evolving aviation industry. At Volotea, we’re pleased to be part of VINCI Airports' Forest Carbon Sink Program, launched in 2021, with the aim of offsetting part of our carbon emissions through reforestation projects. Today, 15 volunteers from our Nantes base, alongside Aéroport Nantes Atlantique, helped plant 70 trees on a property in Pay Richereau, approximately thirty kilometers from the airport. The trees, including cedars, pears, among other varieties, were carefully chosen for their resilience to climate change and their ability to thrive in local conditions. 🌳   This project was made possible through joint funding, with 50% financed by Volotea and 50% through voluntary contributions from our customers. By working together with VINCI Airports, we are reinforcing our shared commitment to promoting sustainable practices within the aviation industry and supporting the well-being of the communities in which we operate. Last month, our Client Director, Esther Calvo, represented Volotea at Grounded [In Iceland], the first summit of its kind focused on addressing passenger disruptions. In Reykjavik, Esther joined the panel "Empowering Passengers | Enhancing Communication and Self-Service During IROPS Events" with other industry professionals to discuss how airlines can better support passengers during unexpected disruptions caused by weather, technical issues, or air traffic control limitations. ✈️🎤   The panel discussed key challenges the industry faces, including navigating diverse regulations and providing timely solutions during disruptions. In addition, the discussion emphasized the need for more personalized communication, with the goal of giving passengers greater control and better information during these events. 👥💬   At Volotea, we work hard to mitigate disruptions, and though some situations are more challenging than others, our efforts have led to a strong year in passenger experience. We're excited to announce our new route connecting Bordeaux with Barcelona, starting February 20th, 2025! Flights will operate on Thursdays and Sundays, expanding our offer at Bordeaux-Mérignac Airport and bringing our total to 32 destinations, including 7 routes to Spain. Yesterday, we inaugurated our new connection between Nantes and Hamburg! This exclusive route links two dynamic cities, offering twice-weekly flights on Tuesdays and Saturdays, making it easier for travelers to explore the unique attractions of both Western France and Northern Germany. 🇫🇷🇩🇪   We thank Aéroport Nantes Atlantique and Hamburg Airport for their support and our cabin crew for warmly welcoming passengers on board these inaugural flights. We're excited to announce that we've signed a Letter of Intent with Enilive, Eni's subsidiary focused on mobility products and services, to promote the long-term supply of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) across 15 Italian airports. This agreement could provide us with up to 15 million liters of SAF between 2025 and 2030, continuing our efforts to reduce CO2 emissions and drive sustainable aviation forward. ✈️   Since 2022, we've integrated SAF into our aircraft, utilizing 1 million liters of this sustainable fuel between 2022 and 2023. Together with Enilive, we aim to further enhance the adoption of SAF, a biofuel primarily made from waste and biological residues, which, according to IATA studies, can reduce CO2 emissions by up to 80% throughout its lifecycle compared to traditional fuels. ♻️   Our ESG Director, Gloria Carreras, shared the following: "This marks the start of a new journey with an important partner like Enilive. Over the years, we have launched several initiatives to reduce our environmental impact and adopt a more responsible approach to low-cost travel.
