Biomega's New BER E-bike Targets the US Commuter Market 🚲️ Like many people in Copenhagen, Danish designer Jens Martin Skibsted is a bicycle enthusiast. In fact, "enthusiast" is quite an understatement, as in addition to his day job as VP Foresight & Mobility at the strategy, design and technology consulting firm Manyone, he is also the founder and designer at Biomega, a Danish design brand focused on making bicycles capable of replacing cars in urban environments. Successful change starts by putting people at the centre of the transformation. At Manyone, we believe that to shift culture, develop new skills, and boost engagement, it’s essential to deeply understand your people – and ensure their active participation in the process. Our collaboration with Jyske Bank is a testament to this approach. Jyske Bank wanted to enhance its ability to target outside-in perspectives, aiming to better understand the relationships between customers and advisors. To support this, Manyone facilitated a “train-the-trainer” process with Jyske Bank’s business developers, product owners, and UX designers. Together, we co-created solutions through hands-on sessions and design masterclasses, empowering participants with new skills, while discovering potentials across the service blueprint. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲: 𝗗𝗲-𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻’𝘀 𝗡𝗲𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗽 𝗼𝗳 𝗙𝗮𝗶𝘁𝗵 Earlier this week, I hosted a webinar on 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘐𝘮𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘊𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦, where I shared my perspective on an approach to de-risking uncertainty in transformation through 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘶𝘰𝘶𝘴 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘵 𝘷𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘥𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯. (Link in the comment section) With 70-80% of change initiatives still failing (McKinsey/Gartner), it is critical to understand how to confidently navigate the leap of faith required in transformations. From my experience, failure often comes down to three primary factors: 𝟭: 𝗟𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗼𝗳 𝘂𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 and a clear vision. 𝟮: 𝗨𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿-𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 and a lack of internal momentum. 𝟯: 𝗡𝗼 𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗱𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁 and no ongoing validation to prove short-term wins and long-term direction. When organisations set out on transformative journeys—be it redefining a market position, launching a new product, or shifting internal processes—they face a gap between their 𝘤𝘶𝘳𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 and their 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘧𝘦𝘳𝘳𝘦𝘥 𝘧𝘶𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘦. This ambiguity gap is filled with uncertainty and risks. For many companies, initiating change can feel like taking a 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘱 𝘰𝘧 𝘧𝘢𝘪𝘵𝘩–there’s often no clear view into whether the chosen path will work. This lack of certainty can stall momentum or lead to costly missteps. 🔍 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘃𝘀. 𝗟𝗮𝗴𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀: To manage this uncertainty, companies need 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘴𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘺. Traditional metrics (lagging indicators) only show what has already happened. They’re not enough for decision-making in dynamic change processes. By focusing on leading indicators—measures of short-term progress and signals of directional impact—you gain early validation that you’re moving in the right direction. 🔗 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝗱𝗲-𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗸𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗽: Design-led approaches provide a structure for navigating this ambiguity. Through rapid prototyping, testing, and 𝘰𝘯𝘨𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘵 𝘷𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘥𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯, companies can replace blind spots with data-backed clarity, turning ambiguity into informed action. This transparency de-risks the leap and allows for course-correct before small misalignments turn into significant issues. 💡 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆? The impact of change is felt not just in reaching a future state but in the process of getting there. By continuously measuring impact throughout the journey, you transform the leap of faith into a guided path, providing clarity and confidence even in complex transformations. Feel free to connect or reach out if you missed the webinar or want to learn more about doing this in your organisation. I’d love to continue the conversation. #Strategy #Transformation #Design #Leadership #Impact Manyone
