Aluminium Foundries Circularity via Holistic ZeoliteProduction for Effluents Depuration
Sobre nosotros
The main goal of the Z-ONA4LIFE project is to show, on a pilot scale, that making synthetic Z-ONA #zeolite is a practical and cost-effective technology. This process helps make better use of #aluminium #waste and Si-rich waste, making aluminium foundries more #circular. The project aims to create a nearly waste-free process by recovering valuable by-products and recycling the process water.

♻ Z-ONA4LIFE is underpinned by a 5-stage economic model to advance circularity in the #aluminium industry. Stage 3 of the Z-ONA4LIFE model, "Brine treatment & recovery of subproducts", led by Ferrosadim, S.L., aims to obtain information about the optimal parameters for the physical and chemical process of transforming #saltslag to #zeolite. These small-scale laboratory experiments are imperative to design and construct the parameters of the Z-ONA4LIFE pilot plant for the generation of zeolites on an industrial scale. Manuel Revuelta Bayod, Quality, Environmental, and Health Safety System Manager at Ferrosadim, S.L., expands on the integral role of FERROSADIM in gathering experience and basic technical data, which is necessary for: 🔸 Standardisation of tests and fine-tuning production processes 🔸 Design rules and safety standards 🔸 Adoption of organisational measures specific to work the pilot plant 🔸 Installation costs of the plant Learn more about how the entire Z-ONA4LIFE zeolite development process: https://lnkd.in/eJarrRwh 🤝 Improving waste management practices and introducing resource recovery innovations is a collective endeavour, with each member of the Z-ONA4LIFE consortium playing a key role. ♻ The conversion of raw materials into value-added products is a priority for researchers to facilitate waste management best practices and the reduction of negative environmental impacts. This publication by Aurora López-Delgado, Maximina Romero Pérez, and Isabel Padilla, Z-ONA4LIFE partners from Grupo MEDES (IETcc-CSIC), in collaboration with partners from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC)), explores zeolite synthesis from aluminium salt slag and silicon rice husk ash. Yesterday, our team gathered for our quarterly technical meeting to discuss the latest advancements in building the Z-ONA4LIFE pilot plant that will produce recycled #zeolites, following the #circulareconomy principles. 💼 The meeting covered both technical innovations but also the #policy impact our project aims to have on the future of zeolites in the #industrial sector. 🌱 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿? Zeolites have the potential to revolutionise industrial practices by improving environmental sustainability and resource efficiency. Through this project, we are laying the groundwork for widespread adoption in industries, ensuring both technical viability and policy support. 📢 Want to help us shape the future of circular zeolite production? We invite you to take part in our 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, which will help us develop a #blueprint with #policy recommendations for increasing zeolite adoption in industrial contexts. 🔗 𝗚𝗲𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗯𝘆 𝟯𝟬 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿! 👇 https://lnkd.in/dCsSWMc2

🎤 We recently asked Jose Manuel González La Fuente, Z-ONA4LIFE project partner and Head of R&D at COGERSA, to expand on the role of COGERSA as the Stage 4 leaders in the Z-ONA4LIFE #circular #aluminium foundries concept: 💬 "The deployment of Z-ONA zeolite in a real-world scenario like the Open Lab at the Waste Treatment Centre of Cogersa will provide us with invaluable data and insights. The versatility and efficiency of Z-ONA in treating challenging effluents, from landfill leachates to exhaust gases, will be assessed to demonstrate its potential as a valuable product for environmental purification within a circular economy perspective. We will evaluate whether significant reductions in pollutants can be achieved with this innovative approach in our Z-ONA4LIFE project. The demo plant for wastewater treatment is a key instrument in this success, allowing us to simulate real conditions and optimise the processes." Understanding the significant role that each project partner in the Z-ONA4LIFE consortium plays in developing synthetic Z-ONA #zeolite is essential to clarify the Z-ONA4LIFE commitment to #waste #valorisation, but also inform future industrial waste recovery processes. 🚧 Stay tuned as we are creating a new comprehensive webpage that will outline the actions being taken by all partners to repurpose aluminium salt slag. The page will include: 🔸 Detailed process breakdowns for each Stage of the Z-ONA4LIFE circular aluminium salt slag concept 🔸 Testimonials from project leaders 🔸 Accessible educational materials for knowledge exchange In the meantime, visit our #publications page to explore research and scientific papers produced by our experts: https://lnkd.in/eUr4zpyR

🌐 New Scientific Publication 💥 Z-ONA4LIFE representatives Aurora López-Delgado, Isabel Padilla, Maximina Romero Pérez from Grupo MEDES (IETcc-CSIC) co-authored a research paper with experts from Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC) that was recently published in Materials MDPI. ♻ The study, “Waste Symbiosis through the Synthesis of Highly Crystalline LTA and SOD Zeolite”, explores the innovative #synthesis of #zeolites from hazardous industrial wastes, specifically aluminium salt slag and rice husk. This research demonstrates the potential available alternatives to conventional #wastemanagement strategies, highlighting reusable methods for the production of value-added #materials. The conversion of waste into advanced and sustainable materials promotes resource reduction, encourages market-ready treatment adoption, and facilitates a shift to sustainable and circular economic practices. This research aligns directly with the mission of Z-ONA4LIFE, which aims to minimise the harmful environmental impacts and generate a more #circulareconomy through sustainable zeolite synthesis processes. 👉 Read the full publication here: https://lnkd.in/eRZz9z25
