"Driving Growth and Potential for People & Organizations | Automotive & Luxury Expert in Marketing, Sales, & Market Development | Building a 30K+ Network | Let's Connect!"
Join me in the upcoming weeks for a series of captivating interviews, beginning with a conversation with Miss Monica Suri, the esteemed General Manager of Baglioni Resort Maldives. Uncover the secrets behind seamlessly blending #luxury and #sustainability, setting the stage for the finest hospitality trends worldwide. Question: How does your 5-star Maldivian resort integrate sustainable practices into its luxury offerings, and what impact has this had on guest experiences? Elegant notifications are installed in the rooms to encourage guests to conserve energy by detaching the energy card from its designated outlet before leaving the room. Reusable tote bags constructed from recyclable materials are also provided in each room for the convenience of our guests. Several of our activities—including the Discover Maldives Excursion, Coral Frame Adoption, Nature Academy for Kids, and the fortnightly Eco Hour—are designed to enlighten guests about our environment, including the initiatives to reduce our carbon footprint and preserve our natural island, the ocean, and its marine life, as well as the ocean and marine life that surround us. Guests are delighted to learn about the island's sustainable initiatives, including rooftop solar energy projects and waste recycling. Over the course of the last year, these activities have gained significant traction and consistently attract a broad range of attendees, including both adult guests and children. Our Eco Hour event has evolved into a platform for in-depth discussions on sustainability, to which our guests contribute significantly and even share thoughts they plan to implement in their business endeavours and daily lives once they leave our island. Follow-up Question: In your view, how can luxury and sustainability coexist harmoniously in the competitive landscape of the hospitality industry, and what challenges have you encountered in achieving this balance? At this time, we do not anticipate encountering any obstacles in our pursuit of achieving a balance as Sustainability for us is not a project. It is a lifestyle. The coexistence of luxury and sustainability in my opinion, stems from imbibing Sustainability as a philosophy. This conviction subsequently impacts every choice and course of action. For example, having an eco-friendly architecture, which ensures optimal natural lighting and ventilation thereby reducing the need for energy-consuming systems. Prioritising locally sourced and organic ingredients. Another example is allowing Energy conservation to influence choice of lighting, thermostats and energy source. Composting organic waste, Rain harvesting and utilising recycled materials in amenities also set an inspiring precedent. Stay tuned for an exploration of unparalleled elegance and environmental consciousness. The world of luxury hotels awaits! #LuxuryTravel #SustainabilityInLuxury #MaldivesGetaway Miss Monica Suri Baglioni Resort Maldives.

'In the hotel sector, we suffer from a lack of information about how sustainable hotels are – there is no clear system of reporting. Without a solid benchmark it is hard to communicate actions and their values to consumers and, while there are a number of different accreditations, there is no clear awareness of what each one stands for, and how credible they are' - Alex Sogno on Hospitality Net. Precisely. Data transparency is the only long term solution. There's loads of very credible and detailed sustainability platforms and certifications out there with widespread adoption in South East Asia like Greenview and Green Globe Certification , so no reason for hotels not to share that data more widely. One of the key components of the tuu Eco Stay Awards is anonymous data sharing. Our message is, that it your hotel is collecting the data on Power, Waste, Food and Water anyway, then use it for maximum marketing benefit for your property and your destination. If benchmarks exist, then it's easier to tap into that segment of wealthy travellers willing to pay for more sustainable experiences and to move the needle in a meaningful way on climate impact if every hotel on Phuket, for example, knows their eco strengths and weaknesses and can improve accordingly. #tuuEcoStayAwards #sustainablehospitality

Can Luxury Resorts be Sustainable? The Raffles Seychelles Paradigm" The luxury hospitality sector is faced with a pivotal question: Can luxury and sustainability coexist? Raffles Seychelles on #Praslin appears to offer an affirming answer. Central to their approach is the REACH programme, a beacon of societal and environmental stewardship. Including support to underprivileged children, nurturing the arts, championing environmental causes and enriching the community that hosts these luxury experiences. The Planet 21 Programme underscores Raffles' commitment, focusing on efficient waste management and optimising energy and water usage: crucial steps in mitigating the impact of resource-intensive luxury resorts. Raffles has established a water bottling plant on-site drastically cutting plastic waste and utilising alternative water resources, an impactful, tangible environmental action. The resort has undertaken coral rehabilitation and mangrove planting projects. These initiatives are vital for preserving marine biodiversity and maintaining the ecological balance essential to the natural beauty that draws visitors to the Seychelles. The integration of solar energy and employing solar water heaters the resort significantly reduces energy consumption, marking a stride towards greener operations. Further water conservation is innovatively achieved reusing wastewater for irrigation, conserving water resources and enhancing soil fertility: intelligent resource management. The commitment to the environment is evident in its endemic plant replanting initiative, combatting environmental issues like erosion while restoring the island's natural beauty. Biodiversity conservation is key, with efforts to protect endemic species like the Seychelles Black Parrot, highlighting the resort's role in preserving the unique natural heritage of its location. The resorts food waste management strategy involves composting restaurant leftovers for livestock and tortoise feeding in a circular economy focus. The resort's dedication to supporting the local economy through sourcing materials and labour locally, and promoting local art and culture, underscores its commitment to sustainable luxury. Other projects include taking significant steps to reduce and stop the use of disposable plastics and is sponsor of the Aldabra Clean Up Project; and the Buzz Project involves placing beehives at the resort, supporting honey bee health, and using the harvested honey in onsite bars, restaurants, and spa treatments. Raffles Seychelles' initiatives serve as a paradigm for the luxury hospitality industry, demonstrating that indulgence and environmental consciousness can indeed merge harmoniously. The resort sets a precedent, showing the world that luxury, when conscientiously managed, can indeed be a catalyst for sustainable change. Can we help with your #SustainableStay.
