🚨 Latest Updates for Premier and FIP Padel! 🚨
Last week the International Padel Federation (FIP), in collaboration with Premier Padel, has announced the new 2025 FIP Ranking System and tournament structures!
Highlights include:
✅ A revamped ranking system for the Qatar Airways Premier Padel Tour and CUPRA FIP Tour, starting February 3, 2025.
✅ The launch of the FIP World Cup for Pairs in November 2025, awarding 2,000 points to the winners!
✅ Enhanced points for P2 tournaments and early rounds, however potentially smaller qualifying draws.
✅ New categories for the CUPRA FIP Tour (Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum).
Some Premier qualifying draws will feature 16 teams, while others may only have 8. This change has disappointed some players, as having just 8 teams in the qualifying draw reduces the opportunities for more players to reach the Premier main draw—the stage where everyone wants to compete.
As a result, teams that previously had a comfortable spot in Premier qualifying may now need to play more FIP tournaments to earn their place. Interestingly, I haven’t come across any rule updates preventing top-ranked players from participating in FIP tournaments. In sports like tennis, similar rules are implemented to protect the integrity of the development system and provide fair opportunities for lower-ranked and aspiring players.
In summary get ready for a more dynamic and competitive 2025 season!
