GMV has assumed a leading role in ESA’s CAT-IOD mission, the first European in-orbit demonstration of Active Debris Removal (ADR) technologies targeting cooperative and non-cooperative prepared satellites, being the Next Generation of #Copernicus #Sentinels its final target. CAT-IOD is a critical step toward proving the feasibility of capturing and removing defunct satellites using GMV’s CAT system, an active capture solution designed to work with the MICE, its passive interface. With two parallel Phase-A studies underway and a target for approval at #ESA’s 2025 Ministerial Conference, CAT-IOD is a cornerstone of the agency’s ambitious “Zero Debris” initiative. Over the next months, GMV and its partners will refine mission concepts, servicer spacecraft design, and capture technologies to turn this vision into reality. 💡 Read more about how CAT-IOD is setting the foundation for the future of space debris removal! https://lnkd.in/dzCMJ9-H #ZeroDebris #CleanSpace #ActiveDebrisRemoval #AVS #LuxSpace #RedWire #Astroscale #Admatis

🌱📡 The World Bank and the European Space Agency (ESA) have recently showcased a groundbreaking approach tackling deforestation in the Peruvian Amazon! 🌳🚀 Monitoring forests in this region is no easy task—persistent cloud cover makes optical satellite data unreliable. That’s where advanced satellite tech comes in. By combining optical imagery with Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) data, we can detect changes in forest cover with high accuracy and frequency. Our team has worked hard to help integrate these solutions, enabling near real-time tracking of deforestation trends in key areas like Yurimaguas, where agricultural expansion is rapidly transforming the landscape. Why does this matter? Because better data means better decisions. Governments, conservationists, and financial institutions can now take action faster and more effectively to protect these critical ecosystems. This isn't just about technology—it’s about using space-based innovation to drive real-world impact. Kudos to everyone involved! 🚀💪 https://lnkd.in/dnumrC2e #Sustainability #EarthObservation #Deforestation #AI #ClimateAction GMV
