At the #IndonesiaAfricaSummit, I emphasized Africa’s #Agenda2063 and the #NewPublicHealthOrder for Africa as transformation blueprints. We explored collaboration with Indonesia on disease surveillance, vaccine production, and technology transfer. Africa CDC is focused on strengthening public health systems and pandemic readiness.

Multilateral cooperation is key to tackling complex health challenges, and the #IndonesiaAfricaSummit is an opportunity to remind us of our shared struggles and aspirations. Grateful to H.E. Mr. Budi Gunadi Sadikin, Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, for today's dialogue on strengthening public health across our regions.

Africa's weak surveillance systems are a major barrier to controlling the #Mpox outbreak. Without timely detection and accurate data, we have 22,863 reported cases, yet thousands remain unconfirmed due to gaps in monitoring and reporting, and lives are lost. Africa CDC is committed to collaborating with partners like #Belgium and #TeamEurope to close this gap. A robust surveillance system is the backbone of effective outbreak response and global health.

In partnership with #Belgium, Africa CDC is committed to a sustainable response to the #Mpox outbreak. Our vision includes resource mobilization, capacity building, tech transfer, and long-term health system strengthening in affected regions. We welcome Belgium's leadership role and call for a unified and strategic approach to ensure timely action and effective coordination. Jointly, with technical support, funding, and shared goals, we can turn the tide against this outbreak.

I briefed the President of DRC H.E Félix Tshisekedi on #Mpox response efforts and the polio vaccine along with the Gates Foundation, Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, UNICEF, and other partners. Africa CDC is collaborating closely with the Ministry of Health in DRC to start the rollout of #Mpox vaccines next week. For effective prevention, we are advocating for enhanced screening at multiple entry points to curb cross-border transmission.

I am deeply committed to the Lusaka Agenda and its vision for enhancing health coordination and accountability across #Africa. My priorities include establishing a continental Secretariat, scaling up community health efforts, and boosting local vaccine manufacturing. Together, we can create resilient health systems and work towards universal health coverage. #LusakaAgenda #HealthForAll
