Since the start of the year, our team has grown: welcome #Arbonautees Ana Botero, Saara Tracewski, Zenja Kahila, Evgenii Matiukhin, and Catherine Valueva! 🌲 Our Forest Policy Analyst Ana specializes in the international legal frameworks that developed to address environmental problems, especially those related to forests like the EU Deforestation Regulation, the Paris Agreement's carbon market, and REDD+. At Arbonaut, Ana ensures our team stays updated on forest regulations to best support our clients. On Finland’s long summer nights, she loves to find a place in the woods, pitch her tent, and unwind. 📋 Saara joined Arbonaut as a Project Manager to oversee a variety of projects. With a bachelor's in Sustainable Development and experience in LiDAR projects, Saara excels in data production, process optimization, quality control, and team coordination. Outside of work, she coaches a junior Ringette team, enjoys forest walks with her dogs, sewing, and getting lost in a great book. 📱 Zenja has joined our Helsinki office as a Product Manager, leading the development of Arbonaut’s mobile applications. With extensive experience in SaaS product management, Zenja has previously worked on developing solutions for the built environment, focusing on asset management and cost/emission calculations. She’s driven to create meaningful products for positive impact. 💻 Evgenii is Arbonaut’s software engineer, contributing his expertise in back-end development and agile methodologies to our Software Division and customer projects. ✨ Catherine, a student of International Business at Karelia University of Applied Sciences, has joined Arbonaut as a business development trainee. She’s gaining hands-on experience in sales, marketing, customer relations, and organizational management. Warmest welcome to the team! 💚

Last week, we hosted Mr. Masato Kato, CEO, and his wife from Precision Forestry Measurement Ltd (PreFore), a start-up from Shinshu University in Nagano Prefecture. PreFore has technology that uses drones to perform advanced inventory analysis at the individual tree level in Japan's complex natural forests. Arbonaut and PreFore have been working together for the past few years to develop a software package for the Japanese market called ForPas. We had a meaningful discussion about the future development of the Japanese market. We also helped our guests gather information on Finnish forestry and land boundary management. Despite our busy schedule, we were able to visit several organizations that are major players in the Finnish forestry industry, including Suomen metsäkeskus - Finnish Forest Centre, John Deere, Business Joensuu Oy, and Maanmittauslaitos, National Land Survey of Finland, and gain an understanding of the latest trends. Finally, we enjoyed cross-country skiing at the biathlon stadium in Kontiolahti!
