The consortium that successfully delivered the #iMUGS (Integrated Modular Unmanned Ground System) project in 2023 has submitted their proposal for iMUGS2 project. Bittium together with the other consortium members responds to the European Defence Fund call to develop next-generation Multipurpose Unmanned Ground Systems. Building on the success of iMUGS, the production-capable consortium is set to enhance European military capabilities and battlefield effectiveness, and enable the fielding of European unmanned ground systems. The Finnish Defence Forces have started the serial procurement of Bittium Tough SDR™ Tactical Radios. The value of the purchase order is approximately EUR 25.6 million. The radios will offer significantly better performance compared to the earlier generation of digital tactical radios thanks to the software and waveforms used in the radios. The Finnish Ministry of Defence has authorized the Finnish Defence Forces to start serial procurement of Bittium Tough SDR™ tactical radios. Bittium Tough SDR Handheld and Vehicular radios will be integrated as part of the Finnish Army’s M18 C5 system and the Finnish Defence Forces’ family of radios. From 14 to 17 October the #5GCOMPAD projects partners held a Global Demonstration event in Riga, Latvia! Hosted by LMT Innovations, members of the 5G COMPAD consortium showcased several impressive 5G network deployment scenarios. Event took place in Navy Military Base “Daugavgrīva”, where various sea, air and land-based 5G applications were successfully demonstrated. The Global Demonstration included potential network coverage simulations, 5G drone tests, satellite communication integration, and other 5G applications on ships at sea. The 5G COMPAD demonstration in Latvia's 5G testing environment allowed for the evaluation of 5G performance under various conditions and the exploration of new potential use cases. We were honored to have representative from the European Commission, various European Union Ministries of Defence and 5G COMPAD partners in attendance.
