🧐 How to estimate catchment area for retail and services? 🚶♀️ Basic buffer trade area or reachability This is a domain knowledge-based estimate that assumes general reachability for specific types of retail. It is frequently used in the industry where locations of customers are not available. However, managers of retail sites or business owners almost always have some insight into what the catchment area of their retail site is. A trade buffer estimate is a distance-based estimate where a circle of a certain radius surrounding the retail outlet location is defined. An example would be a 2km radius. Reachability is a time-based estimate where catchment is defined as an area reachable in a certain time by different modes of transport. For example, a 10-minute walk can be a reasonable catchment area for a small local grocery shop. 🏠 Customer address-based estimation If the residence addresses of the customers are known (e.g. for subscription services like fitness clubs), it is possible to estimate precise catchment areas automatically for each site. #retail #catchmentarea #reachability #locationintelligence

How did it all happen? "Before I made this decision, I was extremely tired of the fast-paced life in Shanghai and wanted to take a break to recharge. So, I decided to move to Finland, a quiet place that is the complete opposite of my hometown, to seek inner peace. After moving to Finland and continuing my nursing studies, I noticed how technology was used in healthcare to improve the quality of work and ensure patient safety. I became curious about how this worked and began following the field. On the other hand, in Finland, I saw many people learning new skills regardless of their age or background; everyone was encouraged to pursue a new career, even though it could be challenging. I was inspired by this lifestyle and thought, why not give it a try? And now, here I am." 🚀 What are you looking for to learn when working here at CHAOS? "As a full-stack developer intern at CHAOS, I want to practice my skills in both frontend and backend development and learn how to collaborate effectively in a remote environment.
