The municipalities of Päijä-Häme have been actively working on their climate plans. This is also the case in #Padasjoki, where the ClimateGO Finland team visited along with a few other LAB University of Applied Sciences projects. We learned many interesting facts about the municipality of Padasjoki and had a lively, multidisciplinary discussion about the various effects of climate change. If we were to sum up this important and comprehensive discussion in one sentence, it would be: "Let's get started!" Päijät-Hämeen liitto Interreg Europe

The ClimateGO Finland team was honoured to participate in the climate walk held in Iitti municipality. The climate walk was organised by Steps to prepare for climate change project in cooperation with Iitti. The walk was targeted at municipal employees and decision makers. During the afternoon and evening we heard important information about climate change adaptation measures that enable municipalities to prepare for risks in advance. The discussion was active and opened up new perspectives on the municipality's possibilities in climate change adaptation. The benefits of preparing for risks in advance are not immediately visible and justifying the costs for preventative work can be challenging. The participants had a fruitful discussion also on this topic. #InterregEurope #LABfinland #Iitti #climatechange

Yesterday, Wilhelmiina Koivuniemi from Helsinki EU Office gave her presentation “EU guidelines 2024-2029 in climate and sustainability policy” in webinar organized by Päijät-Hämeen liitto and LAB University of Applied Sciences. In her presentation she analyzed the significance of the EU election result for climate and sustainability measures. Her main messages were: 💡Climate and sustainability themes are more bind to the EU’s security and competitiveness policies in the following years. 💡It is more difficult for EU Parliament’s parties to find suitable allies for legislative work, especially in climate and sustainability issues, and more compromises are expected. 💡The best time for regions and other relevant stakeholders to influence on EU climate policies is NOW before the commission presents its new financial framework by the end of June 2025. The webinar was organized as a part of the Interreg Europe funded ClimateGO project.

💡Did you know that identifying good practices is at the heart of our project? Good practices are inspiring and tested policy solutions identified by Interreg Europe cooperation projects. In ClimateGO we have defined our good practices as follows: 🏆 proved to be successful 🌍 transferable 🏙 scope on city or region level 🍀 sustainable in all dimensions: ecological, economic and social 🌡 related to climate change mitigation or adaptation 🏛 systemic i.e. changes in processes, structures and practices ✨ increases regional resilience to climate change During the project implementation time all ClimateGO project partners will identify and publish tested policy solutions from their own regions and cities. This means that at least 30 good practices supporting climate-smart governance will be collected and shared!
