"In the era of the twin transformation, the digital and green ones, the need for more open, accessible, quality and participatory education becomes a determinatory factor to address pressing socio-environmental challenges by equipping younger and next generations with the indispensable set of knowledge and skills. Latest advancements in technological innovations, from Artifical Intelligence (AI) to blockchain and virtual reality (VR), have already been integrated in various educational systems, thus making digital education more relevant and ancred-to-reality as never before. However, to make these digital breakthroughs truly open and accessible to all, digital education necessitates open innovation that enables students and educators to co-design and co-develop solutions that address digital education issues as well as go beyond them. It is within these lens that I strongly hold that DigiEduHack’s role in fulfilling the participatory and open dimension of digital education is fundamental and well served. Especially, coming from the field of (digitally-enahnced) language education, I couldn’t stress more the value of open, digitally-powered and participatory ideas and solutions that will render language education a vivid and ever-growing field of education that will be further enriched with up-to-date resources, linguistic sources, and community-driven practices. In this collective and socially-oriented landscape, digital education brings to the fore the hidden potential and richness of linguistic communities worldwide by fostering the creation of digital networks that transcend geographical boundaries to connect people who are motivated to contribute to collaborative projects for linguistic preservation and advocacy." DigiEduHack is back! This year Aalto Online Learning - Online Hybrid Lab joins forces with Heureka to challenge participants in reimagining accessibility in a science centre. How can we turn the very visual and tangible experiences that Heureka offers into something that engages and is available to all audiences? What: A two-day hackathon event focusing on hacking the accessibility of the Heureka Science Centre When: Thursday 14.11. 10:00-22:00 and Friday 15.11. 9:00-17:00 Who: Anyone with passion to ideate, innovate and co-create solutions with other enthusiasts.
