New Durat basin waste for spectacular vanity units Durat has designed a new basin waste cover, made from the same durable and attractive Durat solid surface material as Durat sinks and bathtubs. The plug gives Durat sinks a stylish coherent look. The basin waste cover is made from Durat material, which contains 30% recycled plastic and is 100% recyclable. Durat products are renowned for their longevity and the fact that they can be reused and recycled again. This ensures that our products are sustainable, both in terms of design and the environment. The basin waste is available in all Durat colours. For the more adventurous, the plug can be chosen in a different colour to the basin itself, creating a refreshing and personalised splash of colour. The new waste valve is available in both a pop-up closeable version and an always open version for public spaces. #design #interiorarchitecture #interiordesign

We served wild food delicacies to celebrate Baltic Sea Day For the fourth time, Durat is taking part in the Baltic Sea Day celebrations launched by the John Nurmisen Säätiö. We offered a Baltic Sea-themed lunch at our showroom in Helsinki. Chef Sami Tallberg, known as a wild food guru, created tapas dishes from natural Finnish ingredients, eg. wild fish from the Baltic Sea. Wild fish play an important role in cleaning up the Baltic Sea. Fishing can help to recycle a significant amount of nutrients from the sea to the land. In Finland, fishing removes more than 700 tonnes of phosphorus from the sea every year. In addition, sustainably caught domestic fish is a climate-friendly alternative to factory-farmed meat or imported fish. Durat also has its own “Save a Piece of the Baltic Sea” team. Durat pays a bonus of €10 on the donation when the donor makes a donation to the John Nurminen Foundation through the Durat team. Make your donation: https://lnkd.in/d3-XkJ9j Durat will also donate €10 for each participant in a Durat Baltic Sea Day event through the Durat team on the Save a Piece of the Baltic Sea Durat has been working with the John Nurminen Foundation for a clean Baltic Sea since 2019. We are involved in supporting the work of the Foundation because we are impressed by the results of its work. "Being part of the John Nurminen Foundation is a natural extension of the fact that for us at Durat, environmental protection and caring for nature is a key part of our core business and values," says CEO Heikki Karppinen. "Our factory is located on the island of Rymättylä in Naantali, so the sea has an important role of our everyday life," Karppinen recalls. Durat fits like a glove for such uses. The cheerfully colourful pattern finishes off the playful installation nicely.
As part of this year’s London Festival of Architecture, Delve Architects explore the theme #reimagine with a playful, shaped puzzle installation, with Durat's vibrant multi-coloured surface. Encouraging free open play, it is child friendly, situated in the lively garden of Leicester Square. Durat at the Fiskars Village Art and Design Biennale from 16 June to 1 September. A surprise guest from Durat and BLESS' bathroom managed to sneak out before the exhibition visitors arrived Durat is participating in the third edition of the Fiskars Village Art & Design Biennale. We are a part of the main exhibition called Surprise Guest. The Fiskars Village Art & Design Biennale is a series of events that seeks new ideas and experiences at the ever-changing interface between art and design. The Fiskars Village Art & Design Biennale brings together contemporary art, design and architecture to create new and surprising experiences. "When we heard about the event, we were immediately interested. The event boldly combines art and design by breaking boundaries and creating an opportunity for interesting encounters. The uniqueness of Fiskars' ironwork site provides a wonderful and memorable setting for the event," says CEO Heikki Karppinen, explaining Durat's participation in the event. Durat is involved in the realisation of the "Bathroom" exhibition together with the design duo BLESS, Ines Kaag and Desiree Heiss., Thanks to the the works of BLESS, Durat's colourful bathroom designed by Linda Bergroth, gives the impression that the user has left the space just before the exhibition guests arrive. Artist duo BLESS: Berlin-based Ines Kaag and Paris-based Desiree Heiss, do not limit their work to a specific design or artistic framework. True to their original idea, they have created a distinctive way of working that combines fashion, art, design and architecture. Bless' products and distribution channels do not fit neat definitions; instead, they flow almost imperceptibly from one theme and technique to another, from practical formal language to conceptual, almost abstract visions. There are top domestic design companies, as well as an exciting array of international artists. Most of the artists have never been seen in Finland before. Sini Rinne-Kanto is the art curator and Lauri Johansson is the exhibition architect. Luovi Productions, which founded also Helsinki Design Week, is in charge of conceptualisation, production and communication. Photos: Justus Hirvi / Luovi Productions
