The GCN Roadshow continued yesterday in Kuopio, with a lecture on pharmacologists’ view on ATMPs by Professor Markus Forsberg, Dean of the Faculty Health Sciences at University of Eastern Finland, and a presentation on the National Virus Vector Laboratory. We also got an excellent introduction to FinVector Oy and its GMP facilities, as well as UEF’s Cell and Tissue Imaging Unit. Many thanks again to all the presenters and participants! Merkittävä rahoitus silmän uusien lääkehoitojen tutkimukseen - Business Finlandin One Health -ohjelmaan valitussa Itä-Suomen yliopiston DrugTech Vision -projektissa tutkitaan uutta teknologiaa näkökykyä uhkaavien silmän verkkokalvon tautien hoitoon ja ehkäisyyn. Kolmevuotista hanketta rahoittavat Business Finland ja kuusi yritystä. The GCN Roadshow kicked off yesterday in Oulu at the Kontinkangas campus. The theme of the day was “Networking and Company Interactions” with talks from Markku Jalkanen (Faron Pharmaceuticals) and Maarit Jokela (Oulu University Innovation Centre) on the Tellus Stage, followed by a poster session and a lab tour of Caglar Elbuken’s Microfluidistics and Biosensor Group’s lab, Biocenter Oulu Intravital Imaging lab, and an introduction to the Kontinkangas OT-Axiovert 100M system and Optical tweezers. Itä-Suomen yliopiston tutkijat valottivat lihavuuden ja tulehduksen välisiä mekanismeja tutkimalla ihmisen rasvasolujen erittämiä viestinviejiä, solunulkoisia vesikkeleitä. Lihavuuteen liittyvä rasvakudoksen tulehdus kiihdytti vesikkelien erittymistä, mikä voi osaltaan vaikuttaa lihavuuden terveyshaittoihin. https://lnkd.in/dbHMWzQh

Our Professor Antti Poso was involved in research collaboration which developed a first-in-class small-molecule-based MKK4 inhibitor (HRX215). This inhibitor increased liver regeneration after hepatectomy in murine and porcine models. In addition, the inhibitor(HRX215) was safe, and it had excellent pharmacokinetics in humans in a phase I trials. #Drugdevelopment #liverdisease #kinases https://lnkd.in/dr2VGDd2
