BMF Port Burgas EAD (BMF) have had four Konecranes Gottwald Model 6 Mobile Harbor Cranes retrofitted with cable reels for an external power supply to increase flexibility and sustainability while reducing costs and maintenance. “We were very impressed with the effectiveness of the first retrofit project,” says Nikola Chomakov, Operations Manager of BMF's Container Terminal. “The two Model 6 cranes showed measurable increases in productivity and sustainability, while at the same time, a clear drop in operating costs. With such a quick return on investment, we decided to retrofit our other two Model 6 cranes as well. It’s clear that the extra advantages that electrification brings are well worth the expense.” Read more about the case study here: 📖 https://okt.to/8D5LU2 Konecranes Port Services, Expect More. 💪🏻 #Konecranes #portsolutions #portservices #sustainability

Mobile harbor cranes have established their effectiveness globally, being highly valued for their mobility and versatility, which enable economical handling of diverse types of cargo. A key factor in choosing these cranes is eco-efficiency, and thus the selection of drive options is crucial. Two types of drive systems have proven themselves for mobile harbor cranes: hydraulic (fluid) drives and electric drives. Learn in this paper how the right choice of drive is essential for the crane's functionality, and influences its efficiency and environmental impact. 💡 https://okt.to/b3r14X #Konecranes #MHC #PortTechnology #Insights

Stockholm i mitt 💜 In the Nordics, the holiday season is over and investor activities full on. Yesterday, I participated in SEB's Large Cap conference in Stockholm together with Konecranes President and CEO Anders Svensson. Good discussions about Konecranes' strategy and profitability improvement drivers, demand environment and impacts of geopolitics among other things. Although we had a great and busy day packed with investor meetings, our holiday mood was probably still partly on, as we forgot to take our usual Konecranes roadshow selfie 😅 So instead of selfies, I let you this time admire Stockholm by night. One of the benefits of flying to and from Bromma is that you get to admire Stockholm, one of my all-time favourite cities, from the air. Thank you SEB, Antti Kansanen and Iiro Sällylä for hosting us! ✨ #Konecranes #KonecranesIR #MovesWhatMatters

What a great start to a Friday! We got some good news this morning from Finland’s T-Media, who published their latest rankings on corporate reputation. The survey covered Finland’s 80 largest listed companies, and Konecranes ranked 6th! This is a sharp rise after we placed 15th in 2023, and our year-on-year gain in the key reputation metric was one of the best among all companies assessed.    Receiving input from close to 8,000 private investors, T-Media assesses a company’s reputation using eight components: governance, financial performance, leadership, innovation, dialogue, products & services, workplace and responsibility. Konecranes scored especially well in financial performance, products & services and leadership. The 2024 survey was carried out in May and June of this year in cooperation with the Finnish Foundation for Share Promotion (Pörssisäätiö) and the Finnish Shareholders’ Association (Suomen Osakesäästäjät).    This is truly a result to be proud of. When you combine it with other recent external recognition like the Gold rating from EcoVadis, it shows the progress we are making in our efforts to shape the next generation of material handling for a smarter, safer and better world. Recognition like this also perfectly reflects one of our core values: Driving for Better. That drive is clearly gaining momentum.    T-media is a seasoned analyst of corporate reputations, identifying areas for improvement within their annual Reputation and Trust model. It has been used over 2,000 times globally. #konecranes #reputation #foundationforsharepromotion

Old is valuable. When something stands the test of time it always has a story to tell. In our line of business, we are very future-driven, but we also work systematically to ensure our equipment remain in good condition and continue to serve customers for as long as possible. Adding life-cycle value is a key sustainability goal in our business. We set out to find the oldest operational Konecranes crane and ended up in the port town of Rauma, Finland where we found the K141 crane – in operation since 1938 at energy company Rauman Biovoima. It is the oldest Konecranes crane still in use that we found, but let us know if you know of an even older one! The first job for the K141 was at a power plant generating electricity for the surrounding mill and town by burning wood waste, and its role in the turbine hall lasted five decades. This crane isn't just a piece of history; it's a living example of how robust engineering and maintenance can contribute to the digitalization of industry and technology transformation. What is the full journey of this carefully kept hoist? We caught up with Timo Pitkänen, Jari Toivanen and Marko Mäkinen who told us an amazing story.
