What happens when extreme speed meets extreme precision ⏩ ? At 3500 m/min (210 km/h), even the smallest deviation can make a big difference in the optical fiber draw process. Our engineers made concentricity at high speeds easy with the Nextrom WOW (Wet-on-Wet) Coating Applicator. This technology ensures that coating-to-cladding concentricity remains ≤6 microns while maintaining perfect alignment even at extreme speeds. The coating diameter is precisely controlled at 0,242 mm ± 4 µm, guaranteeing flawless optical and mechanical performance — even at speeds that rival an F1 race car 🏎️ . #hereforyou #WhatOurMachinesCanDo #denktneu #opticalfiber

LED-Optimized Fast-Curing Primary Coating in High Speed Fiber Draw Process Nextrom is proud to partner with Covestro, a leader in materials innovation, on their cutting-edge primary coating technology study designed specifically for high-speed optical fiber drawing with UV LED lamps. Recently tested at our Fiber Draw R&D Center, this next-generation coating from Covestro supports draw speeds exceeding 3000 m/min, setting a new standard for performance and efficiency. Key Highlights: Ultra-Fast Cure Speeds: The next-generation coating demonstrated a cure speed up to 59% faster than the current market standard. This allows for significantly faster production rates and meets the demands of draw speeds exceeding 3000 m/min. Enhanced Modulus Stability: The coating exhibits exceptional modulus consistency across a range of draw speeds and fiber temperatures. This leads to consistent performance and reliability, even at high speeds and temperatures, which is crucial for fiber strength and quality. Furthermore, the coating has increased stability in modulus on further processing such as coloring or ribboning making it more user friendly for the cablers as well. Consistent Coating Thickness: Maintains a stable primary coating thickness with only a 1.2 μm standard deviation across glass temperatures from 42°C to 120°C, showing exceptional consistency in coating application. Reduced Microbending Loss: Achieves superior performance in microbending loss at low temperatures, with attenuation remaining under 0.05 dB/km at -60°C. This ensures fiber reliability and minimizes signal degradation. Improved Resource Efficiency: Due to the high efficiency of the curing process, the coating technology reduces helium and energy consumption, providing a more sustainable production approach by optimizing resource use. Discover how this transformative technology could elevate your optical fiber draw process.
