It’s a cherished tradition to host “Thank You Dinners” for Think Career mentors and facilitators at the end of each round. Last Thursday evening, the Spring 2024 Round participants gathered in the heart of Helsinki to enjoy Middle Eastern and North African cuisine. Many mentors and partners of Think Career support the program round after round, making an invaluable positive impact on the project and its outcomes. Enjoy a few photos in the carousel of our beloved mentors from the Spring Round closing event. Photos by Samuel from https://lnkd.in/dNHYvpBR #ThinkCareer #MentorshipProgramme

Kwabena Owusu Asante joined the Think Career Mentorship Programme just 3 months after his arrival to Finland. Thank you, Kwabena! What a journey you've been having 🧡
As I look back on the past 8 months here in Finland, I’m glad I took part in the Think Africa Mentorship Program as one of the early boosters for my settling in. We recently had our closing event, and I want to say a huge thank you to the Think Africa ry team, especially Sofia Achame-Räisänen and Ekaterina Tolkacheva (she/her) for their amazing work in making this program a success! A special shoutout to my mentor, Aderemi Fayoyiwa, PhD – the perfect match for me as I explore opportunities in the fields of Data, AI, and Cloud. Your guidance has been invaluable, and I’m so grateful for the journey we’ve shared (and continue to share 🙂). To the amazing Dr. Myriam Munezero (who I fondly call my boss, i could write a whole epistle for you 😄 ), my fellow mentees (you know who you are 😉), and all the other mentors for investing their time, hats off to you as well! It’s been such a pleasure building meaningful connections and working with all of you. This experience has truly shaped my sense of belonging here and I look forward to the growth and success of this thriving community.

How can you join Think Africa projects? One of the easiest ways is volunteering. In fact, Think Africa is a volunteer-led organisation and we wouldn’t be able to achieve our goals without the contribution of dedicated people. From the board members to team leads, our volunteers work together to develop new ideas and solutions to the challenges faced by the African diaspora in Finland. Currently, we have 2 options to offer: 🔶 Events volunteer 🔶 Join the event that corresponds to your interests and expertise. Currently, volunteers are needed for: — Assisting facilitators of the Think Career Mentorship Programme hybrid and in-person sessions. October 2024 — January 2025, approximately 1 event per month; — Assisting in event coordination of the 10-year anniversary of Think Africa (multiple roles), October — November 2024; — Other events to be announced on Think Africa’s social media channels. 🔶 Career Mentor 🔶 — Joining the Think Career Mentorship Programme for Foreigners as a mentor is an exceptional chance to make a lasting impact on a person’s life. Check out the programme’s page and sign up for the waitlist for Spring 2025: https://lnkd.in/d8uDtY2p Volunteering experience at Think Africa has a few times been a decisive factor for people to get employed in one organisation or another. Furthermore, volunteering grows your social circles and increases your feeling of belonging. Read more about the benefits in the carousel. Depending on an event, there are additional benefits available to the teams. Send a message to events@thinkafrica.fi or comment here. Join us 🧡

The Autumn Round of the Think Career Mentorship Programme officially started a few weeks ago, followed by separate coaching sessions to introduce mentors and mentees to the concept, opportunities, and challenges of mentorship. We’re fortunate to have Alexandra Petrova lead these sessions for the past six rounds. With years of experience in coaching and mentorship, Alexandra consistently provides structure and up-to-date insights to the participants. Throughout the 5-month program, mentees will attend workshops such as "Wellbeing While Job Seeking" with MIELI Without Borders / MIELI ilmanrajoja, "How to Network" with invited experts, and the KITOS Game with Talent Vantaa (Business Vantaa ). These workshops complement the ongoing mentor-mentee communication, which is the core of the mentorship process. Mentors also receive continuous support during the program to be helped with any questions or challenges that arise. Follow Think Africa’s social media pages to learn the updates about the journey of the Autumn Round Think Career programme participants. Think Africa is actively present on LinkedIn, Instagram, and Facebook.
