#HotOffThePress - Wärtsilä has signed a five-year Lifecycle Agreement with Capital Gas Ship Management Corp. to optimise the performance and reliability of seven LNG Carriers. In today's environment, shipowners seek to maximise efficiency and reliability. This agreement provides 24/7 expert remote support, advanced diagnostic tools, and preventive maintenance to minimise OPEX and lifecycle costs. This will enhance reliability, efficiency, and minimise climate impact of these vessels. Wärtsilä and Capital Gas have a strong relationship, having partnered in 2022 on a Fleet Decarbonisation Programme to meet greenhouse gas reduction targets. “The future of the marine market is becoming more and more complex which is why we are pleased to continue to support Capital Gas with its sustainability goals. Our agreement has been tailored to meet the specific needs of Capital Gas; to optimise performance and reliability and ensure these vessels can deliver value throughout their lifecycle." #HotOffThePress - A consortium, including Wärtsilä, will develop a new system for the maritime industry which is aimed at improving access to reliable data to enable smarter shipping decisions related to decarbonising fleet operations. The ‘TwinShip’ project, sponsored by the EU, will run from 2025 to 2028. Together with a dozen other partners, the project will set ambitious benchmarks in line with the 2023 IMO GHG Strategy, which includes a target of net-zero GHG emissions by 2050. The MoU encompasses maintenance and repair services, specialised maintenance services including upgrades and the latest eco-friendly reconditioning technology, decarbonisation and retrofit projects, like 2-stroke radical de-rating services, the dual-fuel conversions, cooperation on engineering services and training, using Wärtsilä’s Land and Sea Academy facilities. Wärtsilä and Qatar Shipyard Technology Solutions will also work together to offer ship owners and operators expert guidance on all available options for decarbonising their operations. “Shipping is in the process of a rapid transition to more efficient and sustainable operations. For this transition to be successful, collaboration and partnerships between maritime stakeholders is essential. Wärtsilä is proud to partner with the new Flexible Clean Propulsion Technologies (Flex-CPT) project consortium led by the University of Vaasa. The consortium aims to develop innovative, clean, and flexible solutions for maritime transport and off-road machinery, reducing greenhouse gas emissions by up to 100%. “By partnering with Flexible Clean Propulsion Technologies project, Wärtsilä is taking a significant step towards realising our Zero Emission Marine vision.
