🎉 Congratulations to the Bosch Mobility Connected Map Services Team on launching this service! We are proud to collaborate on initiatives like this, helping to make roads safer for everyone.
Imagine a world where your vehicle can alert you to potential road hazards before they even become visible. With our Bosch road hazard service we’re doing exactly that by leveraging real-time swarm data from millions of connected vehicles to keep you informed of possible dangers ahead. Whether it's sudden weather changes, traffic disruptions, or unexpected obstacles, our system ensures you're always one step ahead. The service is already available in millions of private cars and will go live in the first trucks from Mercedes-Benz Trucks at the end of 2024. Since mid-August, the Atlantic hurricane season has been unusually quiet, a period that typically sees increased storm activity. ☁ Such a lull hasn’t occurred during this part of the season since 1968. However, the calm ended on Monday when Tropical Storm Francine became the first named storm since Ernesto on August 12th. By late Tuesday night, Francine had strengthened into a hurricane. 🌀 The storm is expected to make landfall in Louisiana later today as a Category 1 hurricane.

It’s been a busy week in the Eastern Pacific, with three tropical storms marching their way west: Hone, Gilma, and Hector 🌬. Because of hurricane naming conventions, it’s unusual to have hurricanes with names starting with the same letter in the same ocean. However, because Hone developed into a tropical storm in the Central Pacific, it received a Hawaiian name. The two areas of the pacific within US territory, Eastern and Central, are handled by separate hurricane offices: the National Hurricane Center in Miami and the Central Pacific Hurricane Center in Honolulu. Hone passed south of the Hawaiian Islands this weekend as a Category 1 hurricane, bringing over 20 inches of rain to parts of the Big Island ☔ . Gilma is expected to pass north of the islands as a tropical depression by the end of this week. Meanwhile, Typhoon Shanshan in the Western Pacific is on track to make landfall in Japan by late Thursday.
