  1. So, my idea is for someone to create a bunch of books that, somehow could be equiped on our character offhand, to give him some small bonuses like, proficiency on history rolls, +1 to inteligence or maybe a new spell they can use, something like that. I don't know how doable it would be so don't hesitate toleave a reply.
  2. A mod that allows realistic book reading, compatible with language translation patches and the touring carriages mod, would be worth gold for nerds like me who love reading books with views and long roads. Instead of a blur effect in the background and a book floating in the middle of the screen, A book that can be held with both hands on the right and left sides, and which follows the center point like a weapon when you turn the screen would be better. So I wouldn't miss any mountain sight. Even if it wasn't that detailed, it would be great if there were at least hands on the left and right and the blurry effect in the background was gone.
  3. I've imported the first Witcher book (The Last Wish) into 40 books, and as the title says, I can't activate/open them I've created in the CK in-game. Not only that, but they're static. I created the texture for the book used (which means I duplicated a book mesh and replaced the texture). Any help would be appreciated. Edit: I figured it out. I'm a dumbdumb. Don't use the hipoly books for the actual book mesh you choose in book creation! Use the low poly book.
  4. Hello, recently my mind has come across a mod idea, but yet I am a bit inexperienced to make such a mod. Hear me out. What if the Dragonborn were to simply take breaks from the life of a world savior to Nirn and Tamriel? What if they wanted to be productive for a change rather than saving another town from crisis? Well, What if the Dragonborn could write books, and publish them? From one to numerous amounts of volumes, the Dragonborn could make up anything in their mind, say, alchemy recipes, tips on how to fight in fierce battles, or simply writing unnecessary fanfiction. The Dragonborn would find an abandoned house in one of the cities, and purchase it and make a library out of it. There could be an auto-sort bookshelf or maybe even a type of chest to put copies of your book in that immediately sells, so that you wouldn't have to go run around Skyrim just to find a Khajiit merchant, for example. That may be all for now going on in my mind, and I shall indeed come up with more ideas for your bright minds. I remain, PookieSan.
  5. I'd love a mod that either modified the tooltip or display name or icon of spell scrolls and books, for if they've been read before or what wizards have already learned the spell.
  6. When I open random book in the inventory, I can see the part covered by the book... Is there any user who has the same experience as me? A similar example was the mini-map mode, the screen of the skycam for filming the frustum appeared on the screen in translucent. Mini-map mode was deleted, but this problem occurred.
  7. I am wanting the ability to restore any damaged book into a Pre-War Book. This is immersive for me as my lone wanderer cares about preserving the knowledge of the old world. So the Book Chute can have another function in restoring damaged books in addition to making blank ones. Much appreciated to anyone who can make this mod! Addendum: (pun intended ;) I should have mentioned that no audio is requested, only simple text interface.
  8. I want to change a book guide to a certain city. Should I create a new item and replace all existing copies of bk_guide_to_city or should I rewrite the original item (bk_guide_to_city). From what I understand it is not a good idea to change to vanilla dialogue etc. or will that not matter for this guide?
  9. You can already do this almost. You just have to wait a half second or so before pressing the button again. If someone can just shrink that wait time a bit, that would be fantastic.
  10. I am planning on making an alchemy book mod and I would like Arcadia to sell it. How can I do this in Creation Kit without causing incompatibilities with other mods? I tried adding a new chest with a random book in for testing and assigning that chest to a new vendor faction and adding that faction to Arcadia but it did not work - she didn't sell books. Am I doing something wrong? Is there another way of doing it?
  11. I have recently obtained a few armor mods and noticed the lack of grandeur with simplicity in mage armor and items. Alot are too flashy or too HD to be a part of the game and looks out of place. The first idea is for a Huge book to be worn on your back, could have multiple sizes so that everyone gets what they need.. 1 size of the player 2 about the size of a great sword 3 the size of a backpack -The mod "MadMasker" provides coffins but i think books would be nicer. The second is a wizard hat, somewhere between the wizard hat from runescape and huge witch hats. Again, the sizes of it could vary. I have seen some mods with this included but the size is always too big or too small and causes clipping issues. The colors of both should also vary. color ideas- -black -red -blue -purple -green -dark green -night blue -gray Bonus- A robot eye with legs made by the thalmor that harness the power of the dwemers to spy on the rest of skyrim. Could be a cool enemy, with magic resist. The robot could be not made completely out of the dwemer artifacts like most are, but have some elements taken from then, like a trim or something. =i tried uploading pictures but they were too big=
  12. Ok so here's what I'm trying to do... I have made a huge mod i've been working on for months, it's a questing mod that has many new custom weapons and armor and new items. Unfortunately, I was to secure in my knowledge of the creation kit and made the mistake of saving the quest making for last and now I'm totally stuck! I've successfully created a quest mode before so I have some knowledge of quest making but very limited. That being said I've searched and searched for the proper tutorial but there simply are none! I need help creating a very BASIC quest that only starts after reading a book, there's not even any dialogue needed which is why I can't believe noone has done this tutorial on this???????????? Seriously? That makes absolutely no sence. All the tutorials out there strictly deal with dialogue! That's like trying to teach a high school student about quantum physics dude! Lol, So that's why I'm here and I really hope someone can help me, I've worked very long and hard on this mod and i just know everyone will love it! Basically I need to create two types of quests but both are relatively similar. First I need a quest to start after reading a book, and also I need a quest to start after reading a wanted poster. I imagin both are done the same way but I really do need help. P.S. Please help as the mod is almost fully complete and ready for release except for these quest. Thank you Nexus community

Two books added by the mod i'm working on get the note icon instead of book and i'm having a hard time figuring out why, basically between books and notes there's no differences other than the model being used (both use the VendorItemBook keyword. My books use [...]Journal02 and [...]MG03 models which are not really notes) and weight (both weight 1 just like vanilla books). Anyone know why is this happening, or how does SKUI knows what's a book and what's a note?

  15. I'm trying to add an item as a quest reward and this keeps happening. I've also tried using things like getting rid of "Game." and replacing "AntonSpellTone" with "2F0115BC" as well as removing the parenthesis and it still wouldn't work. I'd really like some help with this thank you.
  16. I've been doing some digging on the matter but not much progress towards a less anoying reading in skyrim... First of all in the game there are notes and books basically, notes having instant page turn while books have the absurdly slow page turning animations (is there any mod speeding that up?). Adding to that the opening animations... So I've been looking for a way to make a book be a note and have instant page turn, the best thing would be faster page turning but at this point no page turning is better than a slow one for me. Other than the actual nifs themselves there is a piece of data in every book/note accesible with tes5edit called "Type" which is "Book/tome" for most books and "Note/Scroll" for most notes, and i say most because its not 100% consistent. The setting is not accesible with ck and doesn't appear to change anything ingame. The only other difference is that all notes have a pickup sound while books don't and this does seem to be consistent, the logic behind that escapes me.. Also there is an ini setting:"fBookOpenTime:Interface" which speeds the opening animation and zooming but doesn't affect page turning and for me below 400 starts glitching and books don't open properly sometimes, might be fps related. Any ideas? Am I really the only one anoyed by it?
  17. I've always hated how you open up a skill book and level up just by opening it.. Its really unrealistic and immersion-breaking. Does a mod exist that makes it so you have to read the book first, like so the level up happens on the last page of the book rather than the first?

I'm in the need of a way to force the reading of a book from a script without being able to take it and have found some problems: - Option 1 is calling "BookRef.Activate(PlayerRef)" BookRef being the book placed in a cell. Problem is the "Can't take" flag does not work so the book can be picked up, making the script not work any longer and having a book you are not supposed to in your inventory. - Option 2 was doing from the inventory as i though EquipItem would read the book but it apparently does not. I tried Additem, wait, equipitem and it unfortunately does nothing... So, if option 2 doesn't work directly then the only option is the first, but how do I make it so the can't be taken? Any ideas? EDIT: I just thought that i could spawn a reference of the book, activate it and clean it. Not the cleanest way but would ensure the script works everytime but still have to solve the picking up issue, maybe a script of the book itself that removes it the moment it's added to the player's inventory... going to test this now. EDIT2: the spawning thing is working!
  19. Would a bookshelf with books in it, or a book that would fit into a shelf be possible? i'm not sure how easy this would be i'm just curious.
  20. Is there an intrepid modeler out there who could "fix" the book mesh for a mod I'll be working on once the toolset is out? (Already doing the texture side of things) Right now both book models have a gouge down the middle. It'd be great if someone could fix it (and preserve the uvmap).   22. A mod adding an in-game book that is a spoof of "Atlas of Remote Islands: Fifty Islands I Have Not Visited and Never Will" (which I happened to see in a bookstore yesterday), with description of new islands added by mods as well as some hearsays and confabulations.
  23. Been playing with the CK recently, and I've come across 2 hopefully issues I haven't been able to figure out myself: I created a new cell, with a door linking to it from Solitude. This used to work fine, but after changing a few other things in the new cell - but not changing either door - my game now has a CTD when I activate the door in Solitude. Any idea why? I'm assuming I've done something to break them but I can't tell what. :dry: Edit: It will also CTD if I try and use the console to teleport (coc) into the cell. I tried deleting and recreating the doors in the new and existing cell but it has the same issue. In the new cell I added a few bookshelves using the tutorial from the CK website. The shelves almost worked, but for some reason when you place books on them, they don't settle like a vanilla shelf, but tend to freak out and end up mashed randomly on the shelf. Any help appreciated.
  24. I'm having a problem with the pages of the books in Skyrim blending into each other in a very strange way. I just installed Skyrim on a relatively new computer, but once I started finding books laying around in dungeons, while trying to read them I sometimes noticed the pages would blend into one another after I flipped back or forward through the book... What makes the problem even more odd is that I can see the next(or last) page's text clearly while the "page flip" animation is in progress, but the moment the page lands and becomes stationary, the text of the current page and whatever page it's lying ontop of, will blend. It also doesn't happen with all pages, or in all books... I've tried changing load orders for mods, disabling certain mods, disabling all my mods, changing resolutions, searching google extensively (no one else seems to have ever encountered this problem.) and seeing if my video drivers could be updated, but they're updated. My screen resolution is 1920x1080 by the way, but changing resolution seems to make no difference. I just dunno what to do, short of accepting that I won't be able to learn about the lore in-game, and that sometimes books containing hints will not be legible. I could look the books up online to read them, but it is kind of immersion-crushing. If anybody has any input on this I'd be appreciative. I've included two screenshots of what happens, here you go..   25. This is a simple request to fix a small annoyance. Add a mod to remove book introduction animations. Everytime a book is read, it takes a while for the book to appear and start reading. The starting animation is bothersome. I'd still like to see animated turned pages, etc. If the intro is required for viewing books, animated turning pages, etc.... then don't bother. It's just a small fix I'd like to see.
