  2. This is a post I made on Bethesda.net regarding several questions about a bug with Codsworth during the first quest within Sanctuary. If you ever noticed Codsworth not patrolling the homes for the bugs, or just pacing after the first house and not completing the quest- read the below. I was having this problem on PC, using a modded setup- and with that, per the norm I started to diagnosis it as a possible mod problem. Turns out, it is a CC problem. I removed all CC content, reloaded from with my last save in Vault 111 (right at the exit). Of course I got the missing ESL list, but I just clicked okay and saved the game again in a different slot. Then, I exited the Vault and let any mods I had configure and load themselves before approaching Codsworth. I saved my game again just before interacting with the robot as a future loading point for testing. Then, I talked to him and was able to complete the starting quest just fine. I repeated this 3 more times with the same result. So, I started to look at the CC. I have quite a bit of the CC within my game, most gotten as freebies or discounts in bundles. Captain Cosmos, all the dogs, dog transmog, housing kits, Tunnel Snakes, a few armor and pipboy color addons, etc (28 CC to be exact). I first loaded the two CC with esms, Tunnel Snakes and Captain Cosmos. Then I loaded from the save just before Codsworth and tested. I was able to complete it just fine. So, I repeated the process with each CC, some in small groups ... until I had all the CC back and using the same save file each time so each CC would have to activate in concert with each other every test. So, with the CC still in place- I reloaded to a Vault 111 save that was set before I ever started the testing process and headed to the exit then to Codsworth, letting everything load before hand. And boom, there was the problem. I also noticed in the dialogue tree where he would ask if they should check the neighborhood together (after already having asked him what was wrong - yellow dialogue), the line asking if anything around here was dangerous was gone and replaced with the yellow dialogue option again. This was only present during the Codsworth quest bugged sequence and not in ANY of the other tests. Worth noting during this bugged sequence, he also did not hand me the Hi Honey! holotape despite having the dialogue and animations doing so. I've come to the conclusion that if all CC is loaded, with having so many, at the start of the game ... it risks the chance of this bug happening. Now, this may be a conflict between the CC and some UI elements I am having such as DEF_UI or Full Dialogue Interface, maybe even the Full Dialogue Interface LOOKUP FAILED Fix or fixed translation files for DEF_UI; more testing will have to be done. But if you are having this error, trying doing what I did to see if it clears it up. If you have no CC, then this may be a bug introduced with a recent patch within the 2018 year- or another factor that is triggering the bug. But with all I've seen, CC is at the heart of it with some other factor involved; be it a vanilla bug or mod error coupled with the CC.
  3. Anyone know why no modder has made a codsworth name list add on? codsworth should have enough dialoge to make a phenetic library to make names. Some sort of external name to voice genorator so you can build the name and used spelling so it would have a chart of phenetic parts and you look up which you need and what order. Then you have a second input for spelling you will see in subtitles and other places. I am not a modder and I don't know how hard that would be... but Codsworth saying Sir, has been killing me...
  4. Their used to be a pre-war texture for codsworth but that had been hidden and abandoned.. I really like the clean, shiny version of codsworth, and would like the prewar version or a Much better texture to 4k or 8k maybe where you can see your reflection
  5. Really do need a mod that changes robots happiness levels from 50% to 100%, I mean seriously, have you EVER met an unhappy Mr Handy? Would also make sense for robots to increase overall settlement happiness as they provide extra defence and can do tasks humans don't want to do. Although having them not affect overall happiness would also be acceptable.
  6. So I recently saw this body change for Codsworth where he was a gen 3 synth with British butler attire so I had the greatest idea of Alfred Pennyworth as Codsworth, only that I can't mod outside of sound as of yet, so I send this out to you guys

  8. I'm looking to turn Codsworth into a Securitron Sentry bot because there's nothing cooler than having one as a companion and addressing you by name. I'm not really in the mood for waiting for the DLC to swing around, so I'm curious as to how to make a replaer.
  9. The idea is to add a new item into the game and possibly record audio if anyone feels up to it. Codsworth able to equip a sombrero and able to say Mister Rodriguez. That's it!
  10. As much as I love Codsworth, his weapons and somewhat fragile chassis while befitting a robot butler fail to perform in the post-apocalyptic wasteland. So the idea is to be capable of upgrading Codsworth. Making robot parts such as a cryo-thrower to replace his flamethrower, sharpening his buzzsaw, or a reinforced chassis. Maybe even having some missions for it once the ability to do so is found. Perhaps he could even have his optic sensors upgraded to highlight enemies. A stealth boy addon would make him an excellent recon drone for the sneakier type of player. Maybe an upgraded thruster might let him carry more things. That's about all I can think of at the moment. Hopefully someone can make this mod as I think it'd make plenty of those who think Codsworth is too weak to help reconsider using out favorite robot butler. :laugh:
  11. I really hope there's a mod where Codsworth is not essential anymore, but youre able to fix him using parts as it would be more logic, reasonable and immersive in my opinion.

  13. Hi everyone! I'm currently attempting to mod Fallout 4 so that Codsworth is able to say my actual name instead of "Sir". I've gotten pretty far so far- I've managed to splice together some of his sound files to create a really convincing one, and I've installed it as a mod correctly, but for some reason it still doesn't work. Is there any way to make it so that Codsworth recognizes this modded in file? If we can get past this one final hurdle, there'll be hope for everyone out there whose name isn't on the list!

Is there a mod out there that provides a realistic sanctuary home? codsworth has been working on the house for 210 years give or take afterall. fallout universe is full of instances of robots maintaining other things why does the main characters home have to be the same as the others in sanctuary if its supposedly been worked on or maintained by a mr handy for 200 years. so i geuss im wondering if there is a mod that adds a grity kinda post war rebuild best one robot could do house after 210 years build? not the shiny pre war build mods and not the total changed and weird builds. just the one lone house fixed somewhat up
  16. I want to allow for alternate spellings of names. I'd just copy an existing sound file and make it play to the new spelling. Or perhaps even simpler, add the new name as an alternative prompt to play an existing name file, just with a changed subtitle. I've spent the last few hours looking through Creation Kit trying to find where I might see the list of recognized names and try to add one, but couldn't find anything. Only the lines with "sir" and "mum". I could probably work it out if I only knew where to look. Anyone here know?

So ever since the game came out it has always bugged me that when you go straight from the vault to Codsworth he acts all crazy but if you go straight from the vault to Concord and rescue Preston and company, Codsworth has a completely different conversation with you where he's more level headed and you can immediately get him as a companion. I always wanted a simple tweak where you get the level-headed conversation with him right from the beginning. I have looked over the CK and have no clue how to do it. I would love it if someone could do this for me, thank you.
  18. I've noticed something. Sometimes other observations and "gaming moments" like Codsworth punching out Bloatflies in power armor using the AIO Hot mamas file and Roameeo's Sanctuary have been amusing so I thought I'd post this one and Mod talk seems the place for it as it's all inclusive in one mod. Start Me Up, as users know, offers the chance to skip the prologue after initial looksmenu, Go ahead with it, Start as someone else than Nick or Nora... It's the last one that caught my attention, the start as another 111 resident who happens to look exactly like Nick (or Nora) and in fact got mixed up with the failed Survivor thanks to Nordhagen being the one staffer not to make it to the Vault. (Not stated as such, but I like it, and he did make it to the coast, who do you think started Nordhagen Beach?) When you do the name and stat thing at the terminal before getting out, the mod goes to the trouble to state your intended pod has your just chosen name and your double (as in Shaun's actual parent) dead in there, while you're listed under his or her name as the one that got out of the pod (after witnessing Shaun's being taken then getting refrozen). Cool, right? There's the rub. Codsworth calls you by your name, implying that he knows damn well you're the double of his owner but gives not one solitary f*** as long as you'll take him and seek out Shaun. (This is, of course, dependent on you picking a name Codsworth recognizes.   19. Hey there. Got my best robot bugged after messing with automatron DLC: I played around for like 5-7 hours after Ada and robot work-bench was found/added. The main quest was bugged: no robot tryed to open doors in Mechanic lair, so I just ignored it. After some time my Codsworth gone trough a "little" upgrade, so in the end he lost all his default MrHandy parts. Some time later I suddenly realized: why not just cut/paste back broken DLC files and start it again? What can go wrong, right??? Good news: the DLC is now working fine, "main" quest is complete. Bad news: Codsworth now is a living ghost. He have no body (can't point trough console), but he have location, can do MrHandy sounds while walking and fully interactive (can speak, travel together and use his inventory). I tryed to edit him through Robot-workbench, but after selecting him as targeted robot, no body-part menu is showing and I can only quit or reload game (also console works fine) My game state and what ws already done: Clean steam-version with all DLC (at the start) now with Fallout 4 Script Extender Unoficial bug fix (some other visual tweaks, nothing extreme) Tryed: prid 0001ca7d + kill + resurrect + disable + travel far + enable + wait long (and other combinations) setrace -> if it's not a robot "race", than it works and he is back again in "flesh", but all robot variants just make him "ghost" again That fix Can anyone help?? ps no, no screenshots: he is invincible (duh), but you can always try my save file.
