Good Day, Setting the stage: So I've recently gotten back to Skyrim, bought the AE version, and dived into modding with an honestly stupid amount of research, tutorials, youtube mining, etc. I have downloaded quite a few mods (a total of ~430 plugins which I know is a lot but I paid a pretty penny for this computer specifically for gaming purposes.) Now I've mined the s*** out of nexus for every possible compatibility patch and unofficial patch that I could find as well as following tutorials for wild edit cleans, and I'm running into a bit of an issue. The Issue: At first I thought the problem was a conflict with AS-LAL. So I replaced that with Skyrim Unbound and redid all of my checks. Turns out that wasn't the problem. Uninstall any Alternate starts, problem persists. Whats happening is that there are simply no dialogue options appearing. Like the courier, he runs up and says his piece but does not initiate an actual dialogue box. Merchants, quest givers, and so on simply say their initial line as if they would be starting a conversation with the character, but nothing else happens. This obviously leaves me in a bit of a bind as nothing can progress. The Statue of Mara in AS-LAL was the first issue, which made me think something was wrong there even though I had no idea what could be going wrong. I've looked through each and every mod, disabled the whole lot, reinstalled after checking each for updates again, went through wryebash and loot just to make damn sure I wasn't missing anything. At this point, I'm at a loss and rather pissed off. The Point: If anyone else has run into this and figured it out or heard of something similar, I'd really appreciate some assistance. My google skills can't seem to turn up anything at all that fit my situation. The only dialogue box that will open is a random empty one at the very start with just the "Ok" acknowledgement for something like a menu. I've dived in with the vanilla start as well as each of the alternate starts. The result remains the same, no dialogue works beyond any NPC's greeting. No menu's work outside of the start menu and associated MCM's.   2. Some Dialogues use different scripts for each Dialog Topic that literally do the same thing, but they are marked as Hidden Is there any problem in removing this "Hidden" and use only one script to multiple Dialogue Topics and Prompts?
  3. I have a problem with Jarl Siddgeir. I received a letter to speak with Jarl Siddgeir (to initiate the bandit killing quest), however, no dialogue options appear when I try talking to him. Not even the 2 default dialogue options of "Does your inexperience...." and another one that I forgot. I also noticed this issue with Solaf and Nenya. I managed to fix Solaf's issue by adding him to the merchant faction, but Siddgeir is still bugged. I also noticed that Siddgeir lost his "Jarl" title that should've shown up when you aim your cursor at him. Instead of "Jarl Siddgeir" showing up, it only reads "Siddgeir." Furthermore, Siddgeir no longer sits on his throne but typically hangs around upstairs, using the arcane enchanter. Does anyone know a fix for this? I've looked around and saw that multiple people have this issue. Thanks.
  4. Are there recommended tools for writing dialogue that import easily into creation kit, etc? Or do people just tend to write everything in ck from the start or manually copy and paste any lines written elsewhere?
  5. I was just wondering if there is something special about how feral ghouls operate as a creature type. Feeling rather inspired the other day, I decided to create a custom voice type strictly for Glowing Ones to use, but it's more advanced than the vanilla feral ghoul voice type, which only features Attack lines from the Combat dialogue tab. This new voice type includes reactions for various lines in the Detection tab, but so far none of them have played. I can hear the responses to the new Hit lines, so they are at least responding to pain properly, but none of their other reactions have played, and it's making me a bit worried. Maybe there's a reason the default feral ghoul voice type only has Attack lines? Or maybe they are just too peppy (or perceptive in this case) to stay in a detection mode long enough to search for--or be alert to--the player? Then again, my test character's Sneak skill is 90 so perhaps that's part of the problem. Thoughts and speculations are welcome. Although I intend to test this with a less skilled character when I get the chance of it, I'm really hoping this is just bad luck and not some hard-coded limitation for feral ghouls and glowing ones. Edit: Solved it. If curious, see the explanation in the post below.

So there is a mod that gives many NPCs such as Elder Lyons new dialogue, however all the dialogue is unvoiced, so they don't move their lips or make any sound, what they say just appears as subtitles at the bottom of the screen. I know how to make audio files for their voices, I just don't know how I can add them into the mod so that the NPCs actually talk. Any and all help is appreciated.

So I'm currently in the under dark and I'm trying to do soverigns mission where he wants nere, but every time I hand him nere, I get to the point where the mycanids do their dance and then soverign talks to me, but then after he stops talking, I just get stuck awkwardly looking at him and cant skip or load my game to get out of it, I cant switch characters either to push my character out of the dialogue, its like everything freezes but i can still hear the game and things are still moving, and when I try to return to menu, I get stuck loading forever, if I try to quit the game, it freezes up and I have to go force close the game. Does anyone know if this is just a problem with the actual game or is it a cause of a mod? If so, what mod could be possibly causing it?

  11. Hello. I need some help in how to go about the conditons, scripts, etc. for my intended quest. I'm trying to have an npc alive, then bleedout, then go into an idle animation (lying down wounded), and then have the npc talk to another npc while staying in the idle animation, and finally, dies. All happen in succession while I am in the same cell as the npc who will die. I'm trying to force all of these things to happen in this order. Thanks.
  12. Hi all, I am working on polishing up quorn's "Hospitality Papers" so that you can ask what they are and where to get them. Then people will give you directions. What I'm struggling with is finding a way to make dialogue topics/responses only appear if you are NOT a member of House Telvanni. This is easy if the NPC IS member but what if they're not? Function, Rank Requirement = 0 Doesn't seem to work. :( Any ideas? Thanks.
  13. I'm working on a mod that adds an NPC with some custom dialogue. The idea is that he confronts the player (which will be handled by a ForceGreet package), and will ask a series of questions. If the player quits the dialogue with him, he will attack while saying something like "how dare you ignore me!" I haven't been able to find a way to make him attack upon the player quitting the conversation, but I'm sure it's possible. Thanks in advance for any input. EDIT: Figured it out. I should have looked into it for a few more minutes before posting, but ah well. For those who might be wondering, it's accomplished through the "Walk Away" and "Walk Away Invisible" check boxes. The CK Wiki can explain the process more but it's pretty easy.
  14. So I'm back to working on some unfinished mods of mine, but I have two possibly advanced questions regarding dialogue that I think I need to get help with first. Shared Dialogue Topic(s) First question is whether it's possible for dialogue from different quests to share the same initial topic? Basically what I want to do is add a topic to innkeepers such as "I'm looking for work" which several different quests can then add their own sub-topics to. Normally I'd do this with a quest with all the dialogue under it, but these quests really ought to be in their own plugins which makes this more complicated. So is there more a modular way that I can do this? I tried just having two different quests with the same opening topic, but this gave me two different identical topics when speaking to an innkeeper. I suppose it's possible I did something wrong, so first up, should that have worked? If not, is there a neat way to do this such that multiple plugins can have their options grouped together neatly under one topic, or are there some clever alternatives? I'm hoping to avoid having to maintain an "index" quest supporting every possible mod under it if I can, as I'd love for others to be able to add to it as well (plus make it as easy for me to do so as possible). Reusing Dialogue Options Next up is, can I reuse dialogue options under multiple headings without having to duplicate them? Basically in one dialogue tree I'm going to have a bunch of different options, most of which eventually lead to very similar bribe/persuade/intimidate choices (with similar outcomes). What I'd like to do is maintain just one set of bribe/persuade/intimidate options and somehow reuse them, for example by setting a variable before displaying them, so that I know what on success. To complicate matters I may also need to set different levels of speech check, though I can live with maintaining duplicates for easy/medium/hard variants so long as I don't have to maintain copies for every possible path. Is there a clever way to reuse dialogue for multiple branches? I was thinking perhaps I might have to use mini-quests for this purpose, e.g- player selects a branch, setting some variables and triggering a quest with the bribe/persuade/intimidate options, before triggering some result. Would it need to be that complicated or is there a simpler method? Thanks in advance for any help!
  15. Hey, So I've watched and tried to recreate a bunch of tutorials for getting quest stages to advance through talking with an NPC. Followed along just fine until the part where they got their NPC to talk and present dialogue options to the player. Whenever I get to the quest stage where you have to talk to that NPC, the marker appears above their head but they don't talk like they're supposed to. What am I missing here? (Current stage when you talk with the NPC is 0 and I know that the Alias for the NPC is filling correctly because they have the objective marker over their head correctly) Here's pictures of what my scene and greets look like for my NPC. I can post more for trouble shooting purposes.
  16. Dear members, this is a quite tricky bug i encountered. What happens is that every time i pass an NPC or talk to them, their opening line is ALWAYS replaced by some remark about "why's the sky being so dark", "where did the sun go", "the day is dark as night", "those skies are a bad omen",... Always those lines on repeat, at the beginning i didn't take note of it, but after a while it starts to get real annoying, monotone and repetitive. It replaces all of their openings sentences on every NPC walking around in the world. This f***s up a lot of interesting and informative opening lines. :pinch: Another issue that arose with this bug (if you can call it that) is that sometimes my dialogues freeze up on random NPC dialogue lines or subtitles get delayed. The only fix is to tab out of the conversation and redo the whole dialogue. Very annoying during quest dialogues. :mad: The only mods i have that i think can relate to this are: - EnhancedLightsAndFX with their Weather option. - Immersive Citizens + the patch for ELFX - Relationship Dialogues - Better Vampires (since even vampires get new lines about "the tyranny of the sun is over!") - Amazing Followers adds new dialogues too, but this issue was here before i installed that one. I tried disabling all these their ESP's and reload the game, even completely uninstalling the mods, nothing... However, this probably won't help if the mod installed special dialogue scripts, since these won't be disabled or uninstalled through NMM. But i dunno which one i need to delete... there's hundreds of those. :ohmy: I also tried to disable comments about the weather in the Immersive Citizen ingame option menu, been looking up this issue on the internet, still nothing... Also installed a new patch 1.5.39 together with the Unofficial Skyrim Patch, this didn't fix dialogues either. Anybody who has the faintest of ideas of where i should look for, or which script might be responsible for the opening lines?
  17. Heya guys and girls! I'm Jintezaku (or Peter, if you prefer), I've been playing Skyrim ever since it came out, and until earlier this year I was playing on a laptop with Intel HD 4000 graphics. Now I'm working with a 1050TI and looking to upgrade to a 1080TI once the RTX series settled in, so for the first time ever I've been playing Skyrim the way it was meant to be played and this sparked me to start modding for it. I am going to go to university for my bachelor's degree in game development next year and hopefully my masters after that. I already have my college degree in the field. So after playing around with others peoples mods (adding and changing stuff) I finally feel like I have a solid base to start my first real mod. My father is a music producer and has taught me a lot about composing, producing, sound design & more and I'm always looking to find ways to implement what he taught me into my projects. This is why my first real mod is going to be focussed around NPC dialogue and voice acting, and more specifically adding dialogue options where they are missing to allow for different RPG playstyles. This was the inspiration for starting this mod, so a big shoutout to Zaric Zhakaron for reminding me of how terrible the dialogue can be sometimes. This is ofcourse still very early days in the mod and aside from a few lines I created there isn't much to show for it yet. But I didn't make this post to boast about yet to be fulfilled ideas and promises but to find as many bad dialogue options as I can. If you know any lines or dialogue options which are not up to standard, please let me know so I can include it in this mod! Fallout New Vegas Geck im trying to find out how to make an xmarker enable once a dialogue topic has been selected. in the results script box ive tried using 1aambushref.enable and other various enable commands, but i still get operations failure script not compiled error anyone know what im doing wrong? what do i need to type in results script box to make xmarker enable?
  19. The usual money sound when renting a room doesn't play, and it didn't exit the dialogue box. Manually exiting the dialogue box is fine but when trying to sleep on said bed (which I assume has been rented out to me) the game crashes after choosing the time. Load order should be fine (i think), script in save file is clean (just checked). So yeah, I don't know what causes it, hence this post. Plugin List

  22. I just started a new game as a Human Noble, and the game simply closes when I step into Fergus' room, instead of initiating the dialogue. There's no error message, it just closes. I have a TON of mods and only basic understanding of how modding works, so I'm hoping someone might know exactly which files I need to search for. I suspect I messed up a .utc file somewhere, because I have Improved Atmosphere and since installing it, I've replaced some of its files with "fix" and "compatibility" files from other mods, the latest one being RL's Mabari Madness. Of biggest note, I also have Morrigan's Restoration Patch, Dialogue Tweaks, Flash Creatures Rescales, IRS Alistair, Skip The Fade, Skip the Deep Roads and Manual of Focus (which messed up Awakening and took me forever to pin down). So, what should I gun for?

I'm having a problem with a fairly new game, got a couple of settlements started but when I try to talk to the settlers "I just want to trade some items" they respond "-" and look really pissed off at me.   24. Hi there, I want to make my follower say some specific dialogue lines when its using magic spells, you know like "falcon punch!" and stuff like that. I've benn trying with these conditions in the dialogues: -HasSpell -HasEquippedSpell -IsCurrentSpell -SpellHasKeyword But none of that is working. Does someone knows how to get this to work? By the way, I'm using the combat dialogue tab for the lines.
  25. Hello, I've been having this problem with a mod I'm making. I had the same problem with my previous mod, but fixed it. For some reason though, this time, nothing is working. No matter what I do, NPC's do not say the dialogue I have given them for a quest. I made an SEQ file, made a clean save, made sure they had the right voices, but nothing works. Any help would be great.
