  1. Hi, I have this bug where for some reason all my settlements happiness gets stuck at 50, and I'm having a lot of trouble figuring out what the cause is. In changing the happiness through console commands, it just seems to get stuck at whatever I changed it to. I initially thought it was Don't Call Me Settler, but in testing it doesn't seem to be. If nobody can help me fix this, I'll go through the awful process of trying to figure it by myself though I was hoping somebody maybe had this problem and fixed it therefore knows how I can fix it. 2. so in fallout 4 all settlements have a happiness rating made by all settlers. now as an oversight robots have a maximum happiness of 50 rather than 100 the same as the human settlers. so any time you have too many robot settlers it can tank your settlement happiness. and with robots being the most efficient at certain tasks and the only ones available at certain locations this can cause false negatives and impede human settler growth. if possible just setting their max to 100 would be best. but other solutions to fix this issue would be great.
  3. Hey everyone, I don't know if my issue with settlements is exactly the same as other people's because there are so many complaints and concerns out there about this central element of Fallout 4 gameplay. What bugs the hell out of me is that Bethesda has the Sole Survivor positioned as some idol of worship where the settlements fall apart in the absence of your presence. The mechanism, from my understanding, is that if you are far enough away from a settlement the game simple stops processing anything that happens in those settlements and everything in them ceases to exists. Yet, at the same time, there is a running happy / unhappy meter doing calculations purely off of the numeric resources we see in our settlement overviews - water, food, security, etc (yes, I'm totally guessing here). I don't know what 'generates happiness' in settlements other than the obvious elements such as certain stores and whatnot, but if the happiness calculator ignores those elements because you are too far away and the engine doesn't load them, it's quite obvious that your happiness ratings will take a nose dive, because what created the happiness is no longer present in the game until you get close enough to those settlements for the elements to be loaded again. In my case it's not just the happiness of distant, unvisited settlements that drop, but the stores I have in those settlements also don't get their inventories restocked. I imagine it's caused by the same issue. Now, I know nothing about modding, so I hope this isn't an absurd request... (dum dum dummmmm) ...but, is it possible to do the following: Force reset settlement store inventories every 24 hours, irrespective of your proximity; and Keeping distant settlement calculations running accurately, irrespective of proximity. If the happiness algorithm is known, settlement assets should be loggable numerically and calculated against separately from whether or not the engine loads them. And the results generated from there should overwrite the vanilla generated values, and if possible the vanilla calculations should be halted as a whole to avoid any conflicts. I'm not a programmer but unless its run every second I can't imagine a script like this placing any real strain on the game with the small set of numeric values it calculates? I'm a huge Fallout fan - been playing since Vault 13's waterchip broke back in 1997, so something like this isn't enough to make me abandon the franchise, but it sure as hell takes a whole lot of fun out of it.
  4. Really do need a mod that changes robots happiness levels from 50% to 100%, I mean seriously, have you EVER met an unhappy Mr Handy? Would also make sense for robots to increase overall settlement happiness as they provide extra defence and can do tasks humans don't want to do. Although having them not affect overall happiness would also be acceptable.
  5. The happiness mechanics in vanilla Fallout 4 are wonky and half-baked. And some people want a fix for that. So much things could be done with it! * Modify the Automatron robot happiness mechanics. The robots have a happiness of 50 and somehow drag the total happiness of the settlement down. Maybe it's possible to make the robots have their own happiness of 50 yet add to the happiness of human settlers? After all, having machines doing all the drudgery for you is awesome! * Modify the Wasteland Workshop arena combat happiness mechanics. First of all, Automatron robots should not negatively affect happiness when they die on the arena. They are just tin cans! Or, at least, robots without Personality Routines should not lower happiness when they die. Second, arena battles in which nobody dies (such as ones between essential characters) currently do nothing to happiness. They should increase it! * Make the Bethesda claim that decorations increase happiness actually true. Add more paintings, flower pots, etc in your settlements and increase happiness!
  6. Mod Request: So the way my brain works is that if the modding community could fix this bug as it is they would have probably already done so. That being said, my thought was what about a mod that just sets a minimum on settlement happiness at like 40%. No matter how shitty the game thinks the conditions are the happiness never drops below 40%. If that isn't possible maybe a mod that just locks happiness to a number like 50% or 80% so that it never changes. My idea/request is just to make a mod that removes all concern for a settlement going below 20% happiness, one that stops my settlers from freaking out about problems they don't have. I give these fools food, water, plasma weapons, armor, beds and a roof and still they get all pissy cuz when I walk too far away, the game bugs out. Each of my characters over the last 400+ hours has had local leader, and I enjoy building a network of stable settlements. This bug is ruining my survival play through and I know it's doing the same for other people. If I had the understanding I would do it myself but I don't know how to, so to anyone reading this: Be a modding hero and create something that stops settlements from freaking out or hitting lower happiness levels. My personal experience: Playing on survival, 82 hours in with settlements across the map. I started to notice problems with water first, some settlements would say not enough water even though I am producing well over 300. Then I started to noticed at Redrocket my population would climb up to 41 even though my max is 24, without enough beds they would get pissy fast so I run up and all the extras are gone. I put 41 beds in Redrocket and since I did so, I haven't had problems with the population; and I've just put 8 or 9 water pumps at every settlement so the random water outages don't piss off the populations. Now the new problem is the settlement bug I've been reading about that doesn't seem to have a real solution yet. First off let me say this has nothing to do with Jukeboxes or TVs lol. I have none in any of my settlements, also as I'm playing on survival I can't fast travel so that isn't the cause of the problem either. I go to Abernathy Farm because it is listed as 0 water 0 beds 0 defense. As soon as I roll up they go from sad to happy, my water, beds and defenses are fine there, sucks though because in one game day my happiness went from 75% to 40%. I check my map, next stop is the Drive In it seems to have the same problem, I walk just down the hill, and find every single one of my 24 settlers is now jobless. So I gather them up, and give them all their jobs back, water, beds and defense is good, I check my map Abernathy Farm is reading 0/0/0 again in the same game day. Graygarden has been on a happiness decline down to less than 20%, they have more food, water, beds and defense than what they need with decorations that make no difference. Even when I'm standing in the settlement, Graygarden happiness is on the deline and currently seems to on track to be the only settlement I'll have ever lost in all of my game saves. At this point until the bug is fixed or a mod can work around it, I can't enjoy playing this game. I won't be playing it until a solution is found, which really sucks. I'll be checking back here to see if anyone has posted anything until a fix is made.
  7. Coming from a Sims background, it seems weird to me that the amount of happiness something is worth is not defined. Do rugs add happiness? Paintings? Radios? What if someone has a mod that adds a garden path - would that automatically add happiness, or would a modder have to work out a happiness value for it to be more than cosmetic? Everything I have read here and elsewhere seems to indicate that no-one knows, and the devs don't seem to be very open about such things. It also seems to be incredibly buggy, taking nosedives for no apparent reason. The settlers have no complaints but the arrow is down? That's just bad coding. The player doesn't know if it's because some object has a negative happiness value due to a bug, for example. You'd think there'd be a data report so you could see it was a radio or something that needed to be removed.
  8. Hello everyone, It is Finals week here at college and all I can think of is Fallout 4. So while I am studying and trying to stay as far from my PC as possible I had a question and hopefully an experiment to answer it. Do each of the settlement locations have a sweet spot for number of settlers. The info is rather vague, and there has been some speculation on a number of different forums. But no one has really answered it. Basically, is every settlement ok with 21+ people, or do some settlements just run smoother at a particular number? I am hoping to get feedback here, then I will attempt to match my settlements to your recommendations. I can then give feedback on what I find. I do not have all the settlements unlocked, yet. We can go over details and I will get a screenshot of my current available settlements after I get home.
  9. I use a mod to remove the build limit, as I am sure many others do. The problem is that for some reason settlers happiness is attached to the build limit. Meaning that my settlers are never happy in their heavily fortified, well supplied settlements. Since the mod works by eliminated build limit resulting in a 0 for the amount built, thus they are unhappy with their extravagant surroundings. To the point I would like a mod to remove happiness from build limit. I am unsure how difficult this would be, but I would be extremely grateful to any modder who finds it in their heart to fix this issue. Thanks.
  10. Somebody please make a mod that removes the 50% cap on robot happiness. Imagine this scenario: You cannot have robots handle your supply lines without penalizing your settlement happiness. That is just stupid. This has a larger impact when you consider using major mods like Sim Settlements that rely on settlement happiness for their proper functioning.
  11. Like the title says, are there any mods which will produce information on what is affecting settlement happiness? Non-covered beds, insufficient defense, etc. I think Sim Settlements has one but I'm not using that mod. Any other places to find this out? It's just the usual problem with happiness dropping for no obvious reason and I'd like to be able to see what the problem is. Thanks!
  12. A global enchantment for settlers at a settlement based on settlement happiness. at 80 happiness settlers move 10% faster, stores make 1.5 x caps, and start carrying larger stock/shipments and weapon mods at 85 happiness they get +25% accuracy at 90 they get +25% health at 95 happiness, stores makes 2x caps, stores start carrying legendary items at random. at 100 they move 25% faster, attack 2x speed is this even possible?
