i play fallout 4 with a steam controller and for the most part its been fine. however i have lost the use of some of my buttons in game. i have checked in big picture mode and the controller buttons still work so i don't think this is a controller hardware issue. i first lost the use of button underneath one of the paddle buttons but as i hardly used this button i just ignored the issue and played on. then i lost the use of the top bumper buttons witch i had rebind to B and U. if i press B or U on the key board while playing they work as i had configured them to work but the controller does nothing. now at over a 1000 hrs in i have lost the use of the start hold button which takes you in and out of workshop mode... the button still works for changing from third to first person but i can only enter workshop mode by going to the workshop table. i am pulling my hair out at this stage as starting a new game is really not an option any ideas on how to resolve this major game issue would be fantastic

I recently bought Skyrim for the PC. I had Skyrim for my PS3, but decided that the strong modding community made the PC the better choice for me (Plus the game was starting to get slow, and there were framerate issues.). With the PS3 version, I found the ability to customize the controls a wonderful feature (Many PC games have this, but it's kind of a rarity for console games.). I use a controller because I like the way it feels in my hands, so when the game finished downloading, the first thing I did was customize the controls so that they were basically the PS3 controls that I had set earlier. Keep in mind that I didn't completely remap the controls, I just did a few things here and there, switched the jump and activate buttons, and a few other things. So when I was finally finished, I tried the controls out. They worked exactly like I thought they would... Sort of. Whenever I went into a menu, be it bartering, inventory, spells, weapons, options, or anything else like that, the controls were completely different. The thing about the PS3 controls is that although the gameplay controls can be mapped, the menu controls are set, regardless of what you do with it. But this is not the case with the PC version. Now Y was select, and one of the sticks was back, and it was all strange and horrible. So, the first place I went to was Bethesda Support. I asked them if there was any way I could bind the menu keys seperately from gameplay keys, so that "A" would be jump, but in menus it would be select, like in pretty much any game that uses a controller. According to Bethesda Support "There is no way to do that, we are sorry for this." So, the second place I went was here. Seeing as there is not a way to do it in the vanilla version of the game, I figure there would be a way to do this with a mod. Knowing that Skyrim has an incredibly strong modding community, I figure this is the place to go. The mod doesn't have to look pretty, or do anything other than what I ask, although it would be wonderful if you were able to make it so that I could configure the menu controls in-game, like putting it just next to the gameplay control options. Since I know basically nothing about modding in general, I'm not sure how easy this would be, but I figure that if you guys could make Skyrim a tropical paradise, you could probably add a set of options to configure the controls for the menu. Since I have read through the rules for the forums, I know that you guys are merely doing this out of the kindness of your own hearts, so, regardless of whether anyone decides to do this or not, I thank you for giving me the time to make my request, and for taking the time to read this. In such a harsh world as this, the charity and kindness of strangers always surprises me and brings me great joy. -Imasargent
