I'm at a loss. I'm relatively new to modding skyrim (I never played it back in its hayday), and I'm stuck. Windhelm crashes whenever I go near it, and Solitude does the same (I found this out the hard way, which I will explain later). Heres the catcher: I started my game as an imperial soldier using Alternate Starts, and I went to Windhelm once already. Neither of these locations started crashing automatically until the cultists from the Dragonborn DLC attacked me. Whenever I tried to fast travel to Windhelm after the cultists attacked, it would crash. Deciding I would continue playing and try to fix the issue later, I went on a little side quest to find some citizen for one of the dudes in Solitude. Fast travel to the Blue Palace, get my reward, then bam, as soon as I leave the Blue Palace and get outside I get a CTD. I've been stuck ever since. I tried starting a new game, and Solitude is crashing whenever I go outside (have not tried Windhelm). Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I have no idea what is going on or what to do (honestly I won't be able to play for a while anyways, but, whatever. I'll at least have this thread to look at for when I'm able to play again). I've officially had it up to here with my Skyrim. I have a bunch of mods that have been fully optimized with Mod Organizer, LOOT, and TES5Edit, but despite all my effort, I keep getting freezes and CTDs all the goddamn time. I really want help with this, because I love Skyrim so much, but all these problems are making me want to give up. Hello guys, I think its unfortunate that the dragonborn can no longer enter the island Japhets Folly after the quest Rise in the East. My idea: The dragonborn can also visit Japhet's Folly after completing Rise in the East via the Windhelm Docks or any other location. After completing the quest, the island will be in the hands of the Imperial Army or East Empire Company. There is a trader and mercenaries/soldiers who complain about the arduous service in this remote, lonely place. Maybe this is an inspiration for someone :)

This is getting frustrating. Crash log and MO2's log are not much help. Fast traveling, carriage rides, boat rides and even on foot, I crash on my way to Windhelm on most of my profiles. If I copy the non-crashing profile, create a new character and go to Windhelm, I still crash.

Hi, I'm TheBxushis, past modder and co-author of Buvarp, unactive manager of Warp, due to lack of condition over the pandemic over the last years. I'm no position to brother anyone, but would like to ask for help in some tools to learn, but don't know where to start in a productive manner. (Also, sorry for my english if anything) If you are familiar with blender, how was your experience until you got the hang of it?, and if you was to recommend someone who wants to start using it (A question that has been maded more than a million times, I know) what would be the objective path to not get lost and be more direct on point? Something that I think that is simple for Blender users, but I don't know where to start, so I would like to ask for help. There is a scketh of a mod that I left unfinished that I want to continue as a way to learn the basics of Blender. This mod is designed to be a lorefriendly expasion of Windhelm, connecting to the right of the docks using nothing but Vanilla assets. works well as intended but have some small problems, such as a lack of stone path without the corridors to the ships, the result is a basic glitch that I have hidden, but it's not the right direction that should go. on top of that, by learning to cut and make new pieces, will allow to simplfiy and optimize the expasion of this incomplete mod. as example, the NIF of the objetc I want to reform.: And the example of in game conflict

Hello everyone, I have a problem with my alternate start playthrough - I cant access Windhelm - I activate the door, get the loading screeen, load for 10 or so seconds and then CTD The weird thing is that I could go to the windhelm stables and "discover them" as they showed up on my HUD, but Windhelm even standing at the door doesn`t have that greyed-out icon I have cleaned my Skyrim with TES5edit, I am using NMM and LOOT. HI! Thanks for clicking and helping me out with this annoying problem! So here is the run down, I have this computer I have been slowly working on for two years now, so I know its as stable as can be. It has an AMD R9 380 and 8Gbs of ram. Now i have a lot of mods installed on skyrim to make it look absolutely breath taking, and the game has been working really well! Except windhelm. My character is brand spanking new, level 5 Nord, and was created after all of these mods have been installed. I have tried turning every single mod off, I've tried installing a ram allocater mod or something like that, and I've even tried waiting a week (in game far away from windhelm) for the cells to refresh, but for some reason as soon as I cross this invisible border the game just CTDs. I have tried googling it and have clicked on every result on the first page of google with no avail. I've even tried clearing the Windhelm meshes\architecture folder and still nothing. Any help and suggestions would be appreciated! This is my mod list from the plugins document

I have a really simple idea for a mod that I just realized the other day, I noticed that the farms outside Whiterun had the same style as the city, same goes for Markarth, Riften and Solitude with their farms/mines/mills ect, However, this didn't apply to Windhelm which just had the plain old boring farm design for the farms on the outskirts of the city, my idea is simple, replace Brandy-Mug, Sarethi and Hollyfrost Farm with the simple smaller WIndhelm house design (The one used for Brunwulf free winters home)

I've never had this problem before, and I use VERY LITTLE MODS. I'm extremely conservative when it comes to mod use because I don't want anything clashing. So...I wanted to get some nice hair. I spent an entire day, studying how to install SKSE. (I am not particularly computer savvy). I installed it correctly, I do believe, according to about four thousand videos I watched here, on Steam and on Youtube. Next: I decided NOT to install anything that required SKSI, but instead left it there JUST INCASE. However, I did install a stand alone mod with a few hairstyles that did not rely on SKSE. Worked just fine. I also installed that romance mod with Bishop in it (HEY. I'm an old married lady and that's all I'm gonna say about that!) Still...working fine. At some time along the way, I also had my other stuff still installed....oh, let's see....a few DLC-type mods, like "Cutting Room Floor", "Helgen Reborn", "Moonpath to Elsweyr", "The Forgotten City", "Falskaar"....all worked fine....oh, yes, at some time I started finding it difficult to enter Windhelm. Like...I would fast travel there, and the game would CTD. I would go to the stables and try to enter the city, and half the time I could get in and half I couldn''t (again, CTD). Sometimes I would restart and when I restarted the game I wouldn't be back at where I was when the computer crashed - I would be inside Windhelm. So, I thought it must be some kind of problem with the mods. So I deactivated a bunch of newer mods. This is what I'm running now: Skyrim.esm Update.esm Dawnguard.esm HearthFires.esm Dragonborn.esm Unofficial Skyrim Legendary Patch Falskaar.esm explore tamriel.esp JKs Skyrim.esp Birdsofskyrim.esp Bishop.esp Inigo.esp This is looking at NMM (I don't see the Romance mod listed but I'm running it) I'm still having problems getting into Windhelm even after starting a totally new game. Any suggestions?

I keep CTDing when I enter Windhelm. It always happens with the dock doors, and it almost always happens with the main gate. It's been okay maybe two times, but every other time I crash. I can't figure out what is conflicting with what. I think it must be JK's Skyrim, but it's still happening when I remove all the other mods I can think of that alter Windhelm, and while JK's does lower my FPS, I haven't had this problem anywhere else. I can't figure out how to find which mods conflict. I don't know what to do. Please help. LO: Computer: If I forgot any relevant info, just tell me and I'll fix it. Thank you.

Hello, I'm having a constant reoccuring issue where my game crashes right outside of Windhelm. I can't even completely cross the bridge. I have just over 200 active mods and I'm running Seasons of Skyrim ENB along with Skyrim Summer Edition. I've organized my mods with LOOT and it doesn't send up any red flags and as far as i can tell there is no conflicts. Please, someone smarter than myself, if you could look over my load order and tell me what the problem is. Here is my load order:

Hello... Just a simply idea to make a plugin that makes Ulfric Stormcloak and/or Elisif the Fair, to wear the Jagged Crown after the last Civil War quest, so that the new "to be High King" can show his power and rightful ownership of the "throne"! I tried to mod, but I just can't learn... Sorry for the english, it's not my native language.

I could use some help here... I use L.O.O.T. and TES5Edit to make sure I'm running a clean modded game in the correct order, however, that doesn't stop constant CTD when I try to enter virtually any building in Whiterun. Thank you in advance, I really appreciate it! Additional Information: -Brand new rig, spent $3k on it, I don't think it's my sytem. -I use SSME and that works wonders in the wild, but not in cities, unfortunately. -I don't use any mods that add additional NPC's to the game, but do use mods that alter the appearance of virtually every vanilla npc. -HOWEVER, I am BRAND new to modding. I will take any and all advice offered to me.

Alright here is my issue, I keep crashing whenever I exit Windhelm :/ near the stables in all. My graphics card is all fine and my pc can run the game with all 200 of these mods just fine, but my god it keeps crashing whenever I go near the stables!! I'm wondering if it's warzones.. I really don't want to uninstall this mod.. but if I have to I will. I seem to have a constant CTD when exiting or traveling to Windhelm... i have had this issue before and resolved it, but following the same steps have gotten me nowhere. In my travels around Skyrim, I have come to notice that Windhelm has the most Argonians and Dark elves. There are hardly any Argonians and Dark Elves in the other cities. Also I like being able to visit the Argonians outside the city. It is convenient access to my transportation and the boat going off the map. All this has led me to conclude that Ulfric is not racist/speciesist as some have claimed. Ulfric houses the largest populations of Dunmer and Argonians. Those Argonians are all employed and a Dunmer owns his own bar in the city. Contrast that with Whiterun, where there is not a single Argonian or khajiit. Also, everytown bans khajiits from entering. Would like to hear other opinions on this subject.

Hello, I have renovated my house in Hjerim with new furniture and moved some around using the console/Jaxonz Positioner. I am worried that once I become thane of Windhelm, the housecarl I am rewarded with will move in and reset the cell of my home. Am I wrong with my concern or will this happen?

I am stuck at the quest "Blood on the Ice". What I have done so far: I arrived at Windhelm and picked up the quest from the guard standing near the three witnesses and the body.I spoke with the witnesses.I spoke to Jorleif.I spoke to Helgrid.I followed the blood trail to Hjerim.I got the key to Hjerim from Friga Shatter-Shield after speaking with a guard for access.I investigated the chest, the shelf, the wardrobe and the altar and took and read the eleven letters and the two Butcher's journals, and took the amulet.At this point, according to the walkthrough on UESPWiki, I should be able to show the amulet and the journal to Jorleif and to speak with Viola Giordano and Calixto Corrium. But that does not happen. The quest progress is still showing to "Look for clues" and neither Jorleif nor the other two have a conversation option regarding the quest. I also reloaded the game to a point when I already spoke with the witnesses but not already to Jorleif, but that did not change anything. So, does somebody know any help how I can progress?

I was playing with Alternate Start - Live Another Life using the "took a ship to Skyrim" intro and landed at Windhelm where I had to use a console command to get Ulfric to show up in the Blue Palace and I was wondering if it would be possible to have him act more like Balgruff if you don't complete Before the Storm, in that he directs you to his steward. I was thinking that it would be cool to have Ulfric's steward (whose name escapes me) give you some basic radiant bounty quests (kill a few bandits, whatever) after which you have the opportunity to become Thane. I've seen a few "Neutral Thane of Windhelm" mods, but nothing that really has Ulfric deflect conversation and allow for Thaneship in the way most of the other holds do, like Solitude for example (clear out wolfskull cave, place Torygg's horn at Talos' shrine, then help townsfolk and buy a house to become thane). I know this is kind of complex, but that's exactly why I'm posting here--my modding experience is too little for me to even know where to begin with this! Feedback is appreciated, and let me know if anything needs clarification.

So, after seeing Sofie walking around Windhelm the other day, I decided today to adopt her. I looked everywhere for her day and night for several in-game days. I know where she was supposed to be sleeping at night but never once saw her. Finally, I went into Candlehearth Hall and saw her inside. I adopted her, but she never showed up at my home (Hjerim in Windhelm). I searched for her and found her back in Candlehearth Hall. When I said "It's time to go home", she just said ok and ran back to sit in one of the chairs inside one of the bedrooms. When I tried talking to her again, the dialogue options were the same as if she were at home. I used the Unadoption mod to see if maybe I could redo the adoption. It worked well for its purpose but she just continue to do the same thing. After the second adoption attempt, she would show up at Hjerim just long enough for the whole "I can't believe I have a home" mini cutscene then just runs to the door and back to Candlehearth Hall. I've finished the Civil War story line long before I tried adopting her. I moved my family to Whiterun and she didn't try to run off again. But, yet again, the problem continued when we moved back to Hjerim. I also have the Unofficial Hearthfire and Skyrim patches.

Okay so I found something interesting while exploring the usep wiki. Apparently in Windhelm there was something akin to the Arena in Windhelm. It was simply known as the pit and you would become a pit fighter. There seems to be two things it could have been used for. If you were arrested in Eastmarch you would have to fight for your life in the pit like gladiators in Rome, or it was more of Oblivion style where you could just join and use it as a way to make extra money- even a combination of the two. So what I'm proposing is this. I'm not skilled enough at mod making but there might be someone out there whose interested in this project. So far the only thing in the creation kit I can find for this is a cell that host the actual arena and a few npcs. What it needs are actual scripts. So I ask if there's anyone out there whose up to finish off what Bethesda started and restore what was originally supposed to be in the game. Kinda like the Civil War overhaul mod restored what was originally supposed to be in the finished game.

I have virtually zero modding experience; what I do have is over 3 years of avid Skyrimming under my belt, an extremely active imagination, and a slight knack for the written word; and so believe me when I say, I have an idea. I am constantly perusing the Nexus, looking for mods; armor, weapon, and house mods specifically. I can never find what I desire; and I lack the modding background to make it for myself. Imagine a house, tucked into the wilderness between Windhelm and Whiterun, where the grass is still green, before the snow begins to fall. Small, quaint, made of stone (in the style of solitude). Hexagonal in shape, windows on the facets, an elegant roof; one room, containing nothing but a few nets full of human skulls (like the taproots hanging in some forsworn hideouts) hanging from the ceiling, a couple blue, magical braziers for lightning(I imagine the interior in the design template of the College), and a round trapdoor, marked with the Dawnguard sun or the Winterhold eye (either way). When you enter the trap door, it takes you to the lower level; a medium sized cell, no loading screens but the initial entry, containing the actual den. A round foyer, engraved on the floor with the same symbol as the trap door, Hexagonal in shape, like the upper building but larger, leading to four rooms; the armory and forge, the alchemy and enchanting laboratory, the display and trophy room, and the bedroom. Armory/Forge: Forge Workbench Tanning Rack Grindstone 9 Mannequins A decent amount of weapon display; a balanced mix of single weapon display, shield displays, and dagger cases Weapon Racks, though not too many [if possible] A fire atronach acting as a merchant. Doesn't have to be voiced, I just thought it'd be bad ass for the magekiller to have an enslaved/befriended atronach stoking the forge. For convenience's sake, she should be a merchant. Display: This is obvious enough; the average Skyrim character collects many trophies, some significant, some sentimental; room for a balance of both would be required. Dragon Priest Masks (Dragonborn as well, a mannequin in the center for Miraak) Dragon Claws Artifacts A slew of mannequins for special armor sets; Nightingale, Guildmaster, Wolf Armor, Archmage, Royal Vampire, etc; (At least another seven not counting Miraak's) Display cases; big, medium, and small I envisioned it more as a display room than a trophy room, but a pedestal or three for the greater beasts slain in Skyrim would be nice (Or, perhaps modified; tubes/ round prison cells holding trapped atronachs of the other varieties; a frost and storm; maybe a dremora lord to yell at you while you admire your things?). Laboratory: Standard. There seems to be a standard set of assets and resources used to make a great looking lab (Most of Eli's houses as an example) Soul Gem storage Display cases for jewelry Weapon racks for staves Enchanting Table Alchemy Lab Storage for both of the above (Sorted or not, though I find auto-sorting annoying.) Bedroom: This is the part that I am stumped on. How to make a bedroom (Hell, the house...) in the esoteric theme of a mage, combined with the dark and guile of professional killer...but also reflecting the strength and pride of a magical juggernaut who stalks his/her prey up close and personal, assaulting and assailing them with sword and shield? I'm at a loss. Perhaps best left to the imagination of anyone who may or may not decide to take interest in this laughable(haha...) idea of mine. Suffice to say, I would love if someone could make this happen. I know I was specific, but I just didn't want to be vague. I figure specific beats vague. Correct me if I'm wrong. I love Elianora's work...mayhaps she'll see this. I hope so. Leave comments; I know I'm not the only who plays the spell abosrbing, mage killing bad ass; it's a valid character archetype! So give this idea some love, or post a link if something of this general theme has already been done so I can look at it. Anything I've found so far has either been too dark, or way, WAY, too big.

Whenever I go near Windhelm or enter it i get a crash to the desktop without any warning. I use LOOT and Mod organizer. Can anybody help me?

Hi, I have a problem, everytime i try to go to windhelm docks or entering by passing the bridge, my game crash. The textures on the bridge looks unloaded. Skyrim also ctd at Winterhold but not all the time and i don't know why, it happends when i walk towards the college and especially when passing the first gate.
