I downloaded several mods and all do not work at all with 1.2.9 , any ideas?

I always get crashes, I tried from smaller mods like torhches aded to more complex ones like harmony etc, and all create issues and crashes of all sorts .

I am wondering if there is a way to be sure that mods are working and not conflicting with current game version.
