In today's VUCA world, a thought leader needs to ensure that they are serving orginality with relevance. Some tips that have worked for me: 1) Be a voracious reader. Be abreast of not only what is happening in your domain but also in the world. Today's complex world is ultra-connected and multi-disciplinary. 2) Make it a point to meet (virtual and in-person) professionals from different fields. Sign up for multi-disciplinary conferences. Network across industries. I try to connect with 5-10 new people every month. 3) Use these interactions to bounce off potential ideas and "joining the dots". Some of the best thinking evolves during such conversations. Be flexible and open in such interactions. Never hold any idea/belief sacrosanct.
