    D-12 before Internoise... Interested in ATD-300, our AI empowered miniature acoustic device for automatic gunshot attacks detection and image capture? Discover our conference related to this subject: August 28th - 17:40 - Room 300 Built on over 30 years of acoustic source recognition expertise in transient impulsive signature, recently highly empowered by neural networks, and wave propagation model driven algorithms, ACOEM has developed the ATD-300, an acoustic sensor for automatic gunshot detection, identification and localization in civilian urban context as a companion system to video surveillance systems. What sets this sensor apart from the competition is its reliability in terms of detection rate over false alarm and robust high resolution shooter pointing capability. Therefore, it can be used directly by police departments without third-party human validation. Resulting from the design effort to distribute intelligence among a collaborative sensor network, processing and artificial intelligence algorithms are fully embedded locally, enabling an alert to be raised in less than three seconds and a camera to be pointed at the shooter with only one sensor. In addition, as the system is already installed in several American cities, we will show how a device- to-server distributed artificial intelligence approach continuously improves the performance of the solution, fed by real field data.     D-17 before Internoise... Interested in innovative design of façade elements to limit wind-induced noise in buildings? Discover our conference related to this subject: August 27th - 11:20 - Room R2B Wind-induced noise is often overlooked in building design. This noise can be generated by wind blowing across façade elements or through the various gaps inside buildings. Noise generated by wind-affected façade elements, particularly at higher wind speeds, has received increasing attention since the 2010s. In this paper a comprehensive literature review is carried out to draw general rules for limiting wind-induced noise in buildings. Next, an innovative design was proposed by Metravib Engineering for the Rabat Ibn Sina hospital designed by AIA Ingénierie. A dynamic analysis of these sunshades was then verified using the finite element method to ensure there was no vibro-acoustic coupling between wind excitation and the sunshade’s structural modes. Finally, wind tunnel tests confirmed that the noise induced by these façade elements was under control and did not cause any particular annoyance. Want to learn more?     🔊 D-20 before Internoise... Interested in denoising by neural network for muzzle blast dectection? Discover our conference related to this subject: August 26th - 17:20 - Room 300 Acoem develops gunshot detection systems, consisting of a microphone array and software that detects and locates shooters on the battlefield. The performance of such systems is obviously affected by the acoustic environment in which they are operating: in particular, when mounted on a moving military vehicle, the presence of noise reduces the detection performance of the software. To limit the influence of the acoustic environment, a neural network has been developed. Instead of using a heavy convolutional neural network, a lightweight neural network architecture was chosen to limit the computational resources required to embed the algorithm on as many hardware platforms as possible. Thanks to the combination of a two hidden layer perceptron and appropriate signal processing techniques, the detection rate of impulsive muzzle blast waveforms (the wave coming from the detonation and indicating the position of the shooter) is significantly increased. With a rms value of noise of the same order as the muzzle blast peak amplitude, the detect rate is more than doubled with this denoising processing. Want to learn more?
