Post-conference course on #UHPFRC - 19th of June 2025 at Polytech Nice Sophia The course aims to demystify the calculation of UHPFRC structures and give designers all the tools to design innovative alternative solutions that fully use UHPFRC performance. After a brief history of UHPFRC development and an overview of recent innovative structures, the course will recall the basic principles of characterization and behaviour of fibre-reinforced concrete. These principles explain the behaviour of UHPFRC and provide very simple first tools for safely pre-dimensioning UHPFRC structures. The course will continue with a fairly complete presentation of the standard for the design of UHPFRC structures (NF 18-710) and an example of application on a pedestrian bridge. Target audience: The training is primarily intended for engineers, students and researchers involved in the design and calculation of structures, project managers, design offices, control offices, and construction companies: technical management, method office and exe studies. during the next fibsymposium2025, dr Elisabeth MARIE-VICTOIRE will give a keynote entitled 'The challenges of diagnosing and restoring historic concrete'. Dr Marie-Victoire achieved materials sciences engineer and materials chemistry PhD degrees from Orsay and Jussieu French Universities. After 3 years working for CPP as a research engineer, she joined in 1997 the Laboratory of Research on Historical Monuments (LRMH), from the Architecture and Heritage department of the French Ministry of Culture. She first integrated the metal department, and she created in 2004 the concrete department that she is heading for 20 years. Her expertise includes identification, diagnosis, conservation and restoration of historic concretes. She provides field diagnosis and conservation advice for French-listed concrete buildings, and she is developing research on three main topics with her team: ancient cement identification, corrosion and moisture diagnosis, and conservation treatments. She is a member of the French CNRS UAR-3224 since 2012. She teaches art historians, conservators, and material science masters, but also architects, in France and at an international level (China, ERASMUS…). She is an expert member of the ICOMOS International Scientific Committee on Twentieth Century Heritage and contributed to the elaboration of the Qualibat Label for the conservation and repair of ancient concretes in France. She has published numerous papers nationally and internationally. His presentation is entitled "Design and Construction of Bridges in India: lessons for practice to safe design". V.N. Heggade, the former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of STUP (India) & former Executive Director of Gammon (India), is presently the founder and CEO of ‘DECon Complete Solutions’. He has varied experience of four decades in Construction sector in the areas of Design, Construction, Site, Project and Contract Managements of Highways, Bridges, Energy, Environmental, Marine and Hydraulic structures. He is a recipient of 17 National recognitions in addition to 2 International recognitions, IABSE - International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering Prize-2002 and fellowship from fib – International Federation for Structural Concrete – Fédération Internationale du Béton.
