We are Air Liquide’s venture capital arm ALIAD, established in 2013 and managing a portfolio of 30+ startups. Our objective: acquiring minority equity stakes in innovative technology start-ups in order to foster Air Liquide’s innovations and accelerate the growth of our portfolio companies. We target mainly three sectors: energy transition, healthcare and digital. Our equity investments are combined with the implementation of technological and/or business agreements between these start-ups and Air Liquide entities.

We are delighted to announce our $37m Series A Fundraise. The investors who have committed to 44.01 include climate leaders, geological carbon storage experts and global technology developers. The round is led by Equinor Ventures with Shorooq Partners in the UAE, as well as (in alphabetical order) Air Liquide Venture Capital (ALIAD), Alumni Ventures, Amazon's Climate Pledge Fund, Climate Investment (CI), Innovation Development Oman, Planet A Ventures, Salica Investments Oryx Fund, Siemens Financial Services, Sumitomo Corporation and several other investors. Existing investors including Breakthrough Energy Ventures have also recommitted to 44.01’s technology by participating in the round. This fundraising will enable us to continue refining our technology, expand internationally, and build commercial-scale mineralisation projects. That's why we are working with innovative #startups! For instance, through ALIAD Venture Capital by Air Liquide, we collaborate with the startup Distran, focused on boosting safety standards in #hydrogen mobility. This partnership has been particularly fruitful: ✅ DISTRAN develops cutting-edge ultrasonic imaging cameras, allowing more effective monitoring and detection of potential gas leaks. In 2023, ALIAD took a minority participation in this start-up to support the company’s growth. ✅ In 2023, the start-up developed a new version of its "SonicView Pro" technology, specifically adapted to Air Liquide's needs, in close collaboration with experts from the Group. ✅ After having successfully demonstrated their performance and reliability, these #cameras can now be used in heavy-duty hydrogen refueling stations and filling centers designed by Air Liquide advanced Technologies.
