📰 [#Press] | Guy Stear, Head of Developed Markets Strategy at Amundi Investment Institute, shared his views ahead of the Jackson Hole Economic Symposium scheduled this Friday : “Equity markets have improved considerably since the August sell-off, and the S&P is almost back to its mid-July peak. However, #Fed funds expectations are still around 25bps lower than they were in mid-July. We do expect the Fed to cut #rates by 75bps between now and year end, with successive 25bp rate cuts at each Fed meeting, and we expect the Fed chairman to continue to signal that a first rate cut is on the cards for September. Yet there is a chance that investors could be disappointed by the comments, if there are any references to the stickiness of #inflation. If US 2yrs were to rise back to 4.2%, from 4.05% at present, that would be a good opportunity to increase long positions at the front of the US curve.” Read more 🔽

🌍 [#Convictions] | Social #bonds have become very popular in the last years. Indeed, demand for social bond surged dramatically after the Covid outbreak, being part of the massive policy response to the crisis. The social bonds #market reached €383 billion [1] as at end Dec 2022, highlighting investors’ growing confidence in these assets’ ability to potentially deliver tangible and impactful social outcomes. These instruments are very similar to traditional bonds, except that they raise money for financing social needs. They are designed to fund new and existing projects with positive social results, such as affordable housing, education, heartcare and job creation. They offer transparency, by requiring issuers to report on the specific outcomes funded through #investors’ financing, ensuring that the raised capital is effectively used to achieve measurable social benefits. Social bonds could provide private investors a valuable opportunity to integrate financial goals with meaningful social impact. [1] Source: Amundi Social Bonds Annual Impact Report 2022.
