    ⚙️ 𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗮 𝗱𝘆𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 After replacing brake pads or discs, mechanics recommend cautious braking for the first few hundred miles. They may suggest a "𝗯𝗲𝗱𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻" process involving gradual stops on a quiet road. This removes imperfections, ensuring uniform contact between pad and disc. Once complete, you'll experience improved brake feel, smoother performance, and reduced noise. Proper bedding in results in consistent braking without grabbing or uneven wear. However, this process takes time. What if you are replacing the brakes on a race car, a 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵-𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗿 that is going to be used for a track day or a 𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝘃𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗹𝗲 being developed on a proving ground? These are times when using the controlled environment of a brake dynamometer to bed in brake pads is essential. 𝗨𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗱𝘆𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘃𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗹𝗲'𝘀 𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗼. Spare, "matched" sets are ready should they need replacement, and the driver will have the confidence that comes from better and more reliable stopping power during the race. Correctly bedded brakes don't just perform better, they wear more evenly, are less prone to glazing and fade so are less likely fail at a critical moment. It even extends the life of your brake components. Unlike on-road bedding, the consistent conditions delivered by a brake dynamometer removes external variables such as weather or inconsistent brake applications and provides detailed feedback on braking performance, allowing engineers to make informed decisions on component selection and to make system adjustments to ensure peak braking performance. The facility spans over 2,000 square meters and is dedicated to battery abuse testing, designed to ensure high safety and performance standards for battery systems. IRIS, Applus IDIADA’s knowledge management service, continuously monitors, analyzes, and consolidates these developments into a comprehensive knowledge base. Some highlights from last month: 🇺🇸 𝗨𝗦𝗔 - 𝗣𝗲𝗱𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Department of Transportation (DOT) have proposed a new rule (FMVSS 228) to improve pedestrian head protection in side-impact collisions. This regulation, based on Global Technical Regulation No. 9, applies to M and N category vehicles. It is expected to take effect two years after its official publication.   🇨🇳 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗮 (𝗧𝗮𝗶𝘄𝗮𝗻) - 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗣𝗲𝗱𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 Taiwan’s Vehicle Safety Certification Center (VSCC) has released a new Technical Regulation on Pedestrian Safety, aligned with the UN R.127 02 series. The regulation will be mandatory for M1 and N1 category vehicles, starting from July 1, 2025, for new types, and from January 1, 2028, for newly registered vehicles.   🇦🇺 𝗔𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗮 - 𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼 𝟲𝗱 𝗘𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲 Australia is progressing on emission controls with the adoption of a Euro 6d-equivalent standard.
