My story is above all that of an enthusiast. A passion for traditions, craftsmanship and elegance that took me into the world of Whisky and of course the world of oakwood. From the age of 16, my apprenticeship began in Scotland as well as in France where I worked in the family's independent Cooperage.. Scotland is fascinating, its infinite landscapes, its indestructible mountains, its incredible myths and legends, its castles with a thousand enigmas, its islands hemmed with storms... make it a country mixing history, legend and dream. I started by collecting the peat needed to heat the stills, then I moved on to various distilleries and cooperages. I visited distilleries, met authentic people and it was then that I understood that Whisky, fire and wood would become my passion forever. After a few years with the “Threshers” Group and Richard Wright, my knowledge was further consolidated, I developed the nose, the palate and learned the art of making and restoring casks, learned about the major influence of wood in whisky. To day, the cooperage buys, repairs, rejuvenates barrels from all over the world. We sell fresh casks to Europe, Asia and America, we also export 1000's of American oak barrels to Europe and Asia each year from our dépot in the US. Our Independent bottling line is used by many independent growers in France. We also bottle under our own name , Fine Single casks, Malt and Grain whiskies .

A quarter cask is a smaller type of barrel that typically holds around 45-50 liters, which is about a quarter of the size of a standard barrel (200 liters). Due to their smaller size, quarter casks have a higher surface area-to-liquid ratio. This allows for more intense interaction between the spirit and the wood, speeding up the maturation process and imparting richer flavors in a shorter period of time. For finishing whisky or rum, using a quarter cask is ideal because it enhances the depth and complexity of the spirit. The peated single malt that was previously aged in these casks would leave behind smokey and earthy flavors, which can add a unique, layered dimension to the spirit being finished in them. Additionally, the intensified contact with the wood helps in absorbing oak-driven characteristics like vanilla, caramel, and spices, creating a well-rounded, bold finish. Art and Cask has secured a full 40ft container of these little beauties,arriving this friday at our warehouse in France.
