Steel roof structures completed for three new Ligne 18 metro stations in Paris. The new Ligne 18 metro stations connecting Orly Airport to Versailles are taking shape, now that their distinctive steel roof structures are completed. Located on the Plateau de Saclay- known as Europe’s ‘Silicon Valley’- the three stations are set for completion in 2025. All three stations share a uniform design, characterized by their distinctive roof structures. Partner and architect Daniel Jongtien explains, “The folded roof shapes naturally evolved from our design process. We aimed for a lightweight structure with a large span. The origami-like folds create both a clever structure and a unique identity for the stations.” Line 18 is part of the prestigious Grand Paris Express, which adds over 200 kilometers of metro lines, enhancing connectivity of previously isolated neighborhoods and fostering economic growth throughout Paris.
