The world of LMS systems has been through a myriad of changes as technology advances and the needs of employees and companies change. The evolution from e-learning to digital learning to learning in the flow of work has led us to today—learning everywhere. It is no surprise that the powerhouse behind today's advancements lies in AI. So far, we've seen that it can answer questions and create lesson plans that would take hours to produce. Next, we expect it will be able to determine and provide dynamic content for individuals based on their roles and existing level of knowledge. LinkedIn's 2024 Workplace Learning Report is out (link in comment) Some of the key takeaways for me here: 🤖 4 in 5 people want to learn more about how to use AI in their profession. AI won't take your job but someone using AI might seems to have resonated with a lot of people. 👩💼 The top reason for people to spend more time learning? If it helps them make progress towards their career goals. Seems obvious and yet most L&D programs are not built this way 🤷♂️ 👨🎓 Gen Z are after learning even more than previous generations. Knowing this generation is set to surpass boomers in the workforce, companies that are not prioritizing this will likely struggle with retention issues. #linkedin #learninganddevelopment #talentmanagement #ai

Chief Learning Strategist @ Steal These Thoughts! I help L&D Pros improve performance with tech + AI, and share lessons with 4,000 + readers.

Most L&D teams have been stuck at delivering surface impact for 20 years. This is going to trigger some people. It’s so easy to bash our industry for not moving fast enough. I hate doing it, but the data showing just how stuck in our ways we are keeps coming. I like to look at these moments as a time to reflect and plan for the future. The Mind Tools for Business team cleverly uses a four-stage learning maturity model to study how different organisations behave. With this, they categorise organisations based on the impact of the L&D efforts. Here’s what they found: → 51% of L&D teams surveyed sit at stage 1 with transactional interventions. They seem to be doing a lot in the business but in reality, they’re achieving very little. → 23% of L&D teams surveyed sit at stage 2 - implementing L&D programs. These teams are a little smarter in what they focus on but lack enough connection across the business to deliver meaningful impact. → Only 15% of L&D teams surveyed sit at stage 3 with a proactive talent and performance strategy. These teams are found to make more purposeful decisions with an increased clarity of thought. → 11% of L&D teams surveyed sit at stage 4 with a high-impact learning culture. These are the highest-performing L&D orgs in the world. They do everything at all 4 levels and link it all back to business alignment. 💬 Quote from the research team ↓ “Top-performing organisations weave a carefully constructed web of activity, while keeping an eye firmly on what the business needs. As organisations mature, they stop trying to do it all. Instead, they take a step back, reflect on where they’re at and what they’re doing, and then use this insight to build meaningful connections between activities.” - MindTools For Business: Unlocking Excellence Report H/T as always to Gent Ahmetaj and Anna Barnett for the stellar research. #learninganddevelopment #education
