Over half of engineering and R&D organizations see reduced development and aftersales costs as a top benefit of digital technology. Nearly as many see it as a way to reduce time to market and improve customer experience. But where are companies placing their bets? What are the stand out technology priorities? It's no surprise that Gen AI has entered the shortlist for digital engineering capabilities, but our research shows that it has burst onto the scene – as a top three priority for 22% of companies. Most leaders plan to achieve scale within the next three years. But what about their current capabilities? 35% of leaders rate their current digital engineering abilities as ahead of the competition, but 27% are behind. When asked why they’re behind:   • 25% can't find a suitable tech vendor, • 34% said digital engineering has minimal or no impact on their products, • 42% don’t have sufficient in-house tech talent.   Organizational roadblocks further hinder digital progress, but leaders are finding ways to overcome the challenges.
