Today, as the Tech Lead at Carbonable, I want to share a journey that led to my approach in our requirements collection process. 💡 The Seeds of Innovation My career has been a tapestry of diverse experiences, each contributing to my understanding of what makes projects succeed or stumble. But it was my time with We Are HANABI that truly opened my eyes to the power of collaborative intelligence. Surrounded by bright minds from various backgrounds, I realized that the key to successful product development wasn't just in the technical details - it was in how we gathered, organized, and acted upon information. 🌱 The Carbonable Challenge When the opportunity arose to join Carbonable, I knew it was time to put the lessons from the past into practice. We faced challenges that many startups encounter: 1. Capturing complex requirements efficiently 2. Ensuring clear communication between stakeholders and the tech team 3. Allowing for quick pivots without losing sight of the big picture 4. Maximizing our limited resources Drawing from my past experiences and the collective wisdom from We Are HANABI, I created a tailored solution that would address these challenges. 👀 The Methodology The methodology is based is a comprehensive template that captures the essence of a functionality in a single, powerful snapshot: 1. Functionality name 2. Pre-requisites (other functionality from the list) 3. Functional domain 4. MoSCoW indicator 5. Trigger 6. Input data 7. Output data 8. Business rules 9. Status 10. List of stories It's is the angular stone of our requirements workshops where the goal is to dig enough on each functionality until there no more pre-requisites. It's also a dynamic tool that allows us to visualize data from multiple angles: * By Status: To track progress * By Functional Domain/MoSCoW: To build our high level product cartography with Komence * By Pre-requisites: To identify critical paths and dependencies to build our product backlog and technical architecture post meetings 🚀 The Result? A functionality is deemed "Ready for Dev" when inputs, outputs, and business rules are clear, and all pre-requisites are met. The Climate Crisis Won’t Wait – Neither Should Carbon Removal!🌍💨 Earlier this year, we joined the Negative Emissions Platform ,CDR community in signing a letter to EU Climate Commissioner calling for clear, strong policies on Carbon Dioxide Removal.📝 Now, we’re reaffirming that commitment because we know that #CDR is a key part of addressing climate change. CDR allows us to capture #CO2 directly from the atmosphere and store it safely, helping to offset emissions from sectors that are tough to fully decarbonize, like heavy industry. But for CDR to work effectively, it needs proper regulation and support. That’s why this letter pushes the #EU to create a solid framework for CDR, one that drives responsible growth while preventing negative environmental impacts like land-use issues or biodiversity loss. By signing, we’re backing a future where CDR plays a meaningful role in reaching #net-zero.
