🪖SEE YOU AT EUROSATORY 2024! CGR will take part in the 2024 edition of the EUROSATORY fair. The exhibition will be held in Paris from 17 to 21 June. The event brings together key organisations and decision-makers from the defence and security industries under the theme "Inventing responsible defence and security for the world of tomorrow". Fifty-five years after its creation, the exhibition has opened a new chapter in its history against a backdrop of unprecedented geopolitical upheaval, climate challenges and economic change. 🇹🇭🌏CGR INTERNATIONAL EXPANDS TO THAILAND We are pleased to announce the opening of our new factory in Thailand as part of CGR's strategic expansion into the South-East Asian market. This new facility marks a significant milestone in our commitment to serve the global automotive industry with expertise, quality and reliability. It will enable CGR to meet the growing demand from automotive suppliers in the region for short, localised supply chains. Thailand offers a particularly attractive environment for the industry, thanks in particular to the historic presence of Japanese car manufacturers and parts suppliers since the 1950s. "Our new facility has 2100m² of available floor space and a controlled atmosphere production workshop. It will not only increase our production capacity, but also contribute to the local economy by creating employment opportunities for around 100 skilled workers. This expansion underlines our commitment to innovation, quality and growth in the automotive sector," said Arnaud Bodier, Managing Director of CGR Thailand and Head of Asia. The first production line has already arrived in January 2024 to produce compression springs. Three more multi-slide production lines will be installed by the end of June 2024 to expand capacity for formed wire and flat springs. A cable cutting and assembly line for seat belts is in the planning stage. The new site is ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified. Customer audits and IATF 16949 certification are ongoing. 🔍 EXPLORING THE TINY WORLD OF SPRING WIRES The science of springs is like a set of Russian dolls: simple on the outside, but with increasingly complex layers of material science issues underneath. This is why CGR has established its own research laboratory called STRAIN (Spring Technology ReseArch INstitute) in 2018. The lab operates in close collaboration with the Institut Clément Ader (ICA) CNRS UMR 5312 and the National Institute of Applied Sciences (INSA Toulouse - Institut National des Sciences Appliquées de Toulouse). It thus provides access to the highest level of academic resources. Researchers from CGR's STRAIN lab have published a new paper in the scientific journal "Wire Forming Technology International". The paper is entitled "Understanding Flexural and Tensile Moduli of Small Drawn Wires". While the topic may sound a little bit out there, the paper provides deep insights into the properties of drawn and bent wires. These, in turn, are at the heart of every spring we encounter in our daily lives! The research helps us understand better the metal transformations we see during the spring manufacturing process. 🌀 SPRINGTELLIGENCE : LEARNING ABOUT SPRINGS CGR announces the worldwide launch of Springtelligence. The knowledge base has been developed by engineers at CGR's UK subsidiary, JB Springs. It consists of a series of video tutorials covering a wide range of technical aspects related to wire spring design and manufacturing. “The design and manufacture of springs touches every aspect of mechanical engineering. Many innovations in the automotive, aerospace, agricultural and medical industries, and more generally in our everyday lives, would not have been possible without springs. Yet very little time is devoted to spring engineering in our education systems. Springtelligence is an educational tool designed to provide learning material in an easily accessible format," said David Whitfield, Sales Director at CGR JB Springs. 🇵🇱 🚗 CGR POLAND INCREASES PRODUCTION CAPACITY CGR Poland extends its available manufacturing floor space by a further 30% to 8,800 m2. The new industrial building, raised next to CGR’s existing factory, adds 2,200 m2 of high-quality workspace to CGR Polska, a wholly owned subsidiary of CGR International. The production site specialises in the cold forming of tubes and wires, mainly for the thriving automotive industry in Central Europe. While the existing factory will continue to produce wire frames, armrests and safety cables, the new hall will mainly accommodate the production lines for wire springs and roll-up cassettes. "We are proud of our role as a major supplier to the Central European automotive industry. This new investment will enable us to meet the growing demand from our customers in the region and beyond.
