    🌟 Exciting two days at the High Performance Polymeric Additive Manufacturing Event at the University of Exeter, UK! 🌟 On the 11-12th of September 2024, experts gathered to explore the latest innovations in additive manufacturing of advanced polymers, including #PEEK and #PEKK. Hosted in the beautiful Orangerie of Reed Hall, Oana Ghita welcomed us all to an inspiring event filled with cutting-edge discussions. Christophe ROUA, CEO of COGIT, had the honor of kicking off the first session with his insightful presentation on In-situ Thermal Monitoring, co-authored by Safouene Rhim, Adel Benarbia, and Hala Albahloul. It was just the beginning of many impressive talks over these two days.     👏 Clôture des jeux Paralympiques 👏 Nous voulions prendre le temps de remercier et féliciter tous les athlètes qui ont participé à ces Jeux Paralympiques. Everyone is excited and ready for a number of medals and records, across 22 sports and 549 competitions. But the spotlight is also on the advanced technologies that empower them such as composite materials!     📚 Understanding thermoplastic formation processes 📰 Excited to share our latest research on enhancing the understanding of thermoplastic formation processes, including welding, automated fiber placement (AFP), and additive manufacturing. These methods involve rapid heating and cooling cycles, which partially melt the crystals in materials like polyetheretherketone (PEEK), crucial for ensuring strong adhesion at the welded interfaces. However, predicting the melting kinetics has been a significant challenge. This paper, written by Adel Benarbia, addresses this gap by defining melting kinetics based on crystallization conditions for PEEK. We characterized and modeled dual-mechanism crystallization during cooling rates from 0.1 K/s to 150 K/s and developed a melting model following non-isothermal crystallization. This model was integrated into multiphysics software to simulate the Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF) process, demonstrating how process parameters impact melting kinetics during deposition. By advancing the prediction of melting behavior, we aim to improve the adhesion and quality of welded thermoplastic parts across various advanced manufacturing techniques.
