Poste Italiane is a valuable partner for the Italian Government in delivering essential services. With its extensive infrastructure and comprehensive reach, it is the largest service distribution network in Italy and considered an important social policy instrument and delivery mechanism for the Government. The CEB’s €250 million loan to Poste Italiane co-finances investments in social inclusion and sustainability. By focusing on southern regions and small towns, the project works to reduce territorial disparities and ensure that “no one is left behind” in the digital and financial transformation of Italian society. 📰 Read now 👉"CEB Milestone: more than €10 billion of Social Inclusion Bonds issued," an opinion piece by Arturo Seco Presencio and Felix Grote in CMDportal.   ➡ The €10 billion SIB mark was reached in April this year when a 7-year was issued at a size of €1.25 billion, the Bank’s largest ever syndicated SIB.   ➡ Thanks to SIBs, the CEB has been able to respond swiftly to recent social crises (COVID-19 and Ukraine refugees) and finance our member countries’ social investment.   ➡ Through our SIBs, we have also financed projects allowing almost 3.7 million students to have access to education and lent to MSMEs that have kept roughly 1.4 million workers in their jobs.   This is what €10 billion of Social Inclusion Bonds can create.   Read the full article ⬇

🏀 How does the CEB invest in young people's physical and mental wellbeing through sports? In 2011 we approved a €30 million loan to the Влада на Република Северна Македонија | Government of the Republic of North Macedonia to improve the conditions for learning and physical activity in schools. Supplemented by two WBIF - Western Balkans Investment Framework grants totalling €5 million: 6️⃣ 9️⃣ sports halls have been constructed 9️⃣ 0️⃣ primary and secondary schools have been renovated benefitting 96,000 students as of June 2023. In Bosnia and Herzegovina #CEB loan to Partner Microfinance Foundation (Partner MCF) provided financing to private households and micro-enterprises for energy efficiency measures that reduce energy consumption and CO2 emissions. By supporting residential energy efficiency the loan proceeds helped improve the comfort of dwellings and working conditions and reduce the burden of energy bills on households’ disposable incomes, particularly for low-income households that are unable to apply for banking loans.
